I took CHM 130 thru Rio and passed. It was the only class I took at the time because I work full time and have 2 kids- and I def. needed alot of study time. But it's do-able!

I've gone back & forth on taking science classes with Rio. I was going to take it last year but ended up dropping it before the class even started. I just signed up again & start CHM130 in a few weeks. I need to finish the pre-reqs asap & taking it in person is not an option due to my work schedule & kids. I hope I pass since I never took chem in hs.

I plan on taking the co-reqs that I haven't done yet (BIO 202, 205). I'm still finishing up my pre-reqs & haven't even applied yet.

does anyone have any suggestions which would be better? take chem 130 and bio 156 at the same time (16 weeks through rio) or split them up and do 1 at a time accelerated (8 weeks each through rio)? i work full time and am a single parent, so study time is an issue.

Sorry it won't let me edit ~ I found another thread below regarding the wait times. New question ~ anybody know what colleges have the shortest wait? I'm in North PHX so Boswell wouldn' be too far away. Do you do classes there? Or just clinicals?

Does anybody have any idea how long the waiting lists are for the Maricopa Community Colleges Nursing Program?

I don't see why not, it's self paced. I am doing it on schedule because I work full time with 2 kids, and am struggling with Algebra (which is where I spend most of my time study-wise). But it's an easy class and I don't see why you couldn't finish it a few weeks early.

It should be okay within the Maricopa Community Colleges, but you should check with the school. I am taking classes thru Rio so they better transfer to PV or Gateway, or whatever school I get accepted into. That's how I understood it to work. Regarding the link- I think they were perhaps out of state?

I am currently taking it online through Rio. It's easy. The assignments have been: a journal entry almost every week (easy!), post 2 debates, 1 self improvement essay, and the final will be another essay. Don't be scared at all.

I am in somewhat of a similar situation. It’s been 15 years since I graduated high school, and only took a few classes in college before dropping out. So I am basically starting from the beginning, and was nervous about it. I have 2 kids, work full time and am taking my pre-req’s through an online community college at night. I only have to show up in person for mid-terms and finals, and that can be done on the weekend. I have put my foot down and said that when my pre-req’s are done I am entering nursing school full time and NOT working. He has about a year (or longer depending how long it takes to get in) to figure out how he’s going to make this work money wise. In the long run it will be so worth it. Don’t let anybody hold you back! I say start with your pre-req’s now.
