I’m not sure. Have you tried reaching out to your recruiter? I found out I was selected in November. Just last night my recruiter called and said the scroll has been signed and I can be commissioned. Seems like a quick turn around compared to others on this site.

Hello! I applied for the Army Reserves as a critical care nurse (66s). Just got the call from my recruiter last night that I was selected ? Anyone else on here recently selected?

I think my husband is pretty set on living near base. I also want us to live close to where he works since we have small children and his schedule is more 9-5ish. I'm just not to sure what to do. If I were to live in dumfries and commute to inova fairfax how long would the commute average? Google maps has it at 35 minutes but what would it actually be working a 7a-7p or 7p-7a? I feel so spoiled living in a big city with tons of hospitals super close by. Looks like with this move I will be basing where I work more on how long the commute is and hoping that the place I want has an opening and hires me!

You don't have to go to an actual facility but you do have to do a "window survey" around your neighborhood for the first project. I'm in week 7 of the class and the teacher I have is a hard grader. My previous classes in the RN-BSN have been quite easier compareably.

Hello. My husband and I will be moving to quantico summer 2013 for his job. I currently work in a neuro icu in a 800+ bed hospital. I would like to remain in critical care and work at a larger hospital but I remember how bad the traffic can be in NOVA so I'm not sure how realistic that is. From my google search the only Neuro icu in the area is fairfax and I'm not sure if that's doable. I love working Neuro but I'm open to other units (especially one that's trauma since there's a lot of Neuro still!) So what hospitals have a realistic commute? And of those hospitals what type of units do they have and how big?

I went to ohio state for a couple years straight out of highschool wasn't motivated whatever and ended up with a 2.4 gpa and then joined the army. Well after I got out of the army I went to kaplan for LPN school and got a 3.99. Then went for my adn at chamberlain and have a 3.92 there. I have an opportunity to go back to ohio state for their rn-bsn program. I was hoping to qualify for their "fresh start" program that would reset my old gpa but apparently 2.4 is too "high" for that. so if i go back there the best i can hope is to raise it up to a 2.9 (and maybe take a couple filler classes to make it a 3.0). Or I could just go to another college and truly start fresh. I've been accepted to Ohio University's rn-bsn program too so it's also an option. i don't want to do chamberlain or kaplan's rn-bsn programs because I'm out of gi bill and would rather go to a more affordable place. i like ohio state but i don't want to do it if it would be a nail in the coffin for my future. What should I do?? Go back to osu and try to resurrect my 2.4 or start fresh at ohio university?? do I have no chance at all for future crna because of my old college non nursing history?

I took my NCLEX yesterday and just tried it today and this is the pop up that it gave me: "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." Do you think its okay?

I went online to the Ohio board of nursing. You want to apply for license by endorsement. There's a good deal of paperwork and you have to give money to California for them to send your info to Ohio. (I forget how much but I recommend finding out for when u send it because they sent my paperwork back asking for $). Ohio also requires some fees to be paid. You also have to get fingerprinted and background checked again. It's alot but you don't have to test again.

This really isn't true. I'm going to Chamberlain through their LPN-RN bridge. I've had clinicals at OSU East and Doctor's West. I should be going to Children's for my Ped's rotation, but find out in a couple weeks for sure. I talked to other students and they only went to a nursing home for fundamentals. Plus they went to Friendship Villiage which has a pretty nice reputation. From talking to coworkers and other nurses it's hard to get a new grad job as an RN regardless of what school you go to. What helps you is knowing some of the staff there and interviewing well. I like Chamberlain. It's a challenging program and I've learned a lot so far. Now to the original poster I'm not saying you should choose Chamberlain over Mt. Carmel. I don't really know a whole lot about Mt. Carmel other than one of my coworkers is going through their rn to bsn program and is disgusted that they're switching to all online. (She had chose their program since they were one of he few that still did that bridge on campus. But now she has part online part on campus which wasn't how it was when she applied.) But anyhow I don't think you should discredit Chamberlain over clinical sites. Chamberlain's clinical sites from what I've heard and experienced are good. Honestly to find out that Mt. Carmel only goes to their hospital that is beside their school would discourage me a little. I kinda like the diversity of seeing how different hospitals.

Are you stationed at Drum? That's where I was :) You don't like the 10 mos of winter? I'm a little nostalgic of that place. The summers there are the best :redbeathe

Hey I just wanted to let you all know that there is hope if your persistant. On the 15th I had two of the places I interviewed for offer jobs. I even got another request for an interview shortly after that. So I've started working and just finished orientation and things are going good So anyone who is looking for a job all I can say is keep your head up! Well I'm just glad to hear it doesn't make it harder. I guess the Marines don't really take priors so I was worried. How does it make the paperwork easier?

Thank you for the advice. He does plan on coming with me whenever I do meet with them. I'm worried that since I'm prior they may try to blow me off. So having him there will be an advantage. I'm really just posting here because I would like to hear some experiences other people have had in this process. I figure the more information I have going in the better.

hello. i'm currently going to an adn program. i still have a little over a year left. i'm prior service army and ever since i etsed i knew i wanted to go back into the military once i had a nursing degree. my husband is currently recruiting officers in the marine corps and he says it's really competitive right now. so i guess i'm just looking for a little bit of insider information as far as the army reserves. i understand that there is the candidate program for if you have an adn and are continuing to bsn. there's also direct commissioning for adn and bsn. i am going to continue towards a bsn regardless of if i join under adn or not. i'm more curious as to which route to go to optimize my chances of being selected. i plan on going to the recruiter after this summer semester is completed. i want to go in as informed as possible though. so anything information will be appreciated :) on a side note i was wondering how long the training is. i saw two weeks, but that just seems too short.

Well you all have been right, it is hard to find a job in Columbus! I guess I wasn't expecting it to be so bad, since I had such an easy time in Cali. Plus there I knew other nurses that said they could get me into their facility if I got tired of the one I was working at. Here it's rough. But the last interview I went on actually called my references and I guess they said really good things. So please everyone cross your fingers for me!! I really want to start working as a nurse again!!!

Thanks, that's reassuring :) Do you have any suggestions to which LTC facilities are the nice ones and which ones are the ones to avoid?

My husband has orders for Columbus Ohio so we'll be there. I have 10 mos experience, so hopefully they'll still look at me. I would have finished out the year if we weren't moving. My DON has promised a stellar reference Where all have you and your friends applied? How long have you been looking for a job unsuccessfully? It makes me feel nervous hearing that you have been having such a hard time!

I want to go to campus. I learn more in the class room than I do with online coorifices. I took some classes online when I was in the Army so I already knew I have a hard time with online classes. My husband's in the military and we currently live in California. In a couple weeks we're moving to Columbus Ohio and we'll be there 2-3 years. Chamberlain's LPN-RN program has no waitlist and is accelerated so I chose it. I originally was going to just start in July, but they offered me to do one semester online. I figured for one semester I could buckle down and knock it out. It's going okay so far. I'm on week four. I have good grades (two classes high As, one class low A). I hope I can maintain the grades. I still feel like I would be learning more if I could be sitting in on lectures. They have a pretty good set up to make sure you stay ontop of the school work. Every week there's a list of things you have to have completed by the end of the week. You also have to post regularly to the class disscussion board. I don't know anything about the clinicals yet. I won't start clinicals until July.
