Sireana922, I was thinking the same thing. You might want to try looking into schoolcraft college. They have a LPN program and it not really hard to get in and then you can do their ladder program once you complete. I am looking into that, I don't have time for the mess detroit healthcare career center is talking about.

hi michigangirl, thank you for that information. i talk to a counselor and she was kind of helpful; but i need to take ap and the net test then i can apply. so i don't think it as hard as wcccd. if you don't mind i will pm you regarding who's the best teacher to get for what class. i've never been to this school. i really don't want to get a bad teacher. i will be starting in the fall. what's your opinion regarding the lpn program or rn program. i am interested in the rn but if i can get into lpn program before the rn i will take that route and continue into the ladder program.

Yeah I recieve the packet from them. Have you taken the CNA course yet? I haven't; I need to start that. My packet stated that the next class is septembe 30, 2008. They also have night classes if you need to take them. I thinking it would pretty hard working and going to school. That drive is going to kill me; especailly with the gas prices are at $4.0p.

hi sirena922, are you talking about the toledo school of practical nursing? i have information on that school. could you tell me how hard is it to get in to the program? if this is not the school you’re talking about, let me know what school you are going to go to? i am really getting sick of the bs with detroit healthcare career center. thanks

hi, i am interested in the rn program at schoolcraft and i was wondering if anyone could tell me from their past experience is it hard to get in? how long is there waiting list, if their's one? at first i was interested in wcccd and as i was looking on line schoolcraft caught my interest because of their lpn program. then i start looking into their rn program...any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I was told some of the same things but by my career planner... I really upset about not getting into the program.... but I was told that you can still get training but just not through the Detroit healthcare center.

hi... i spoke to my career planner and i was told in order to get into the detroit healthcare career center you have to make under $21000.00. have any one been told that you have to make a certain amount to get into the program? i have made it through all the necessary steps, to be told that yes you qualify for no worker left behind but for the detroit healthcare career center you make to much money. is there anyone you currently in the program that could shed some light on this situation? also i was wondering if it make a difference that i going to go part-time in order to go to school. thanks

hi, i have been reading a lot of the pasted posting; and i have notice a lot of lpn talking about the low pay and how hard it is to find a job after graduation. i am very excited about going into nursing; i just don't want to complete the program and it takes me 6 months to get a job paying less than what i am making now. currently i work in hr but i am not happy; i so ready for a change. could someone share their experience with me regarding starting pay and how long it took to get a job? currently i live in michigan, but i was under the impression that lpn & rn are in high demand. thanks

hi everyone, i took my tabe test yesterday and passed . i also completed my tb test, drug screen and police clearance. i am now waiting for my career worker to call. i think i am almost finish with this process... before i know it i will starting the program; can't wait. i will keep you all posted.

hi goldie ferragamo, are you currently enrolled in the lpn program or are you in the process? i am in the process; i have to take the tabe test on monday, then take a drug test and have a back ground check complete. the background check and tabe test is done at the detroit healthcare center. i am really nervous about taking the test... but i've been studying... wish me luck on the test. i will keep this site updated.

hi guys... I new to the board and I have to take the tabe test to get into the lpn program that I interested in. if there's anyone who has taken this test or have any information on this test would advise me on what study guide to get or how hard is this test. I was told in order to pass you have to be at a 6 grade learning level. currently I am doing my require classes for the RN program; but I decided to going into lpn and then go back for my RN. I am just kind of nervous about taking this test. I am schedule to take the practice test on April 24th, 2008. any information would greatly be appreciated. -morgan32

i was told the same thing except after taking the cna training you can start the lpn program. it was my understanding that the patient care training was not mandatory. maybe it was my misunderstanding. but when i go to the office on monday i will definitely get clarification on this. i thought it was a total of 9 weeks of training before you start your lpn program. also i was told lpn classes starts in january, may, and september. once i get the information i will let you know thanks

Hi MSRENEE0320, I went to my information meeting and I go back with all my paper work on Monday Apirl 14th, 2008. Do you know how long is the process? Do you know how many times they start a new class. The lady at 707 Milwaukee, could not anwers the question?

Are their any thing else you have to do beside the application? How long does it take before you know if you are approved? I know I sound like a broken record but for some reason I thought you have to be a detroit resident... but I did speak to someone at the office and she said that isn't so... you must live in michigan. Is that ture? Are you going to go to toledo? Or are you going to try and get into this program? Sorry to ask all these questions; but I in that situation. Should I go to toledo or try to get in to the program in detroit. I would like to get in the program in detroit instead of driving to toledo. It all depends on how hard it is to get in. You said you went back the next day; is it a two day informational meeting?
