  1. I am not sure how many apply but I am pretty sure that more apply for the May/summer start than the Jan/spring start. I think for May, probably a few hundred apply because most programs start around then too. For Jan, it's prob more like 80 or something. May is prob a lot more competitive. I know that accept in the 20's for each cohort...I think my friend told me about 24 for her class last May. Hope that helps, and as with other programs, having most pre-reqs done, high gpa, and some sort of experience makes you a good candidate.
  2. Hey! Has anyone who is start USF this Jan, and is moving to SF, decided where they are living or looked into it? I am seriously considering moving close to campus (at least SF) because I have realized commuting will be next to impossible. Anyone know anyone who needs a roommate or have any advice on where to live?
  3. Hope you get in too addie! I cannot wait to start school...still not financial aid info, maybe next week!
  4. Hey, anyone whose in the ME-CNL starting jan, have you gotten any info on fin aid yet? I looked at the orientation website and it says that we will get stuff after we send in our fafsa, which I sent a while ago when I applied. Just want to get started on getting loans and stuff. Anyone get started on it yet??
  5. Yea I applied and got in for Jan! I am very excited, let me know if you have any questions!
  6. julz16: Where are you moving from? I think they will give us info on registering after they receive our deposits...online is just the class schedule and you can kind of match it up to what we are taking the first semester from the sheet they gave us, to sort of see what the times are like, but it might not be exact
  7. Oh wow i didnt know it was online, thats cool. I live in foster city so I will have about an hour commute too...wish I could move but i should save the money since i'm close enough to sf
  8. You'll prob get yours soon...do you live further away? that may be why. It just has a few sheets saying the program outline, cost outline, and the cover "congrats" sheet that says we start jan 26! Then you mail in the confirmation and after that they are supposed to send us more stuff about registration, financial aid, and health clearance
  9. I am REALLLLY excited too! I think you can do anesthesia after but of course it will take longer. Yea I got the packet in the mail today but no phone call...
  10. Congrats! I got my acceptance today as well! Yea, it is technically a CNL specialty, but you can be a CNL in any area -acute care, peds, etc. Some master's degrees are in only one of those specific areas (NP's or CNS) I don't know about anesthesia though. It's also not a BSN, in the end you get an RN and MSN...so it's a generalist master's meaning you could go into any area basically.
  11. Hey I applied to the spr 09 meo-cnl too! And yes it is about $67k for the whole thing. I chose this program because it is two years long and give you an MSN. Also it is a general master's with no specialty, which I like because I am not sure what area I want to do yet. USF is a great school and I also have a friend who started the program this past June. She LOVES it. I don't think you will get paid more right away with any MSN, if not only a little more than regular RNs, because you have to work for a couple years to get experience first. When did you apply? When do you think we'll hear? I can't wait to hear..
  12. Is anyone applying to the University of San Fran Master's Entry CNL program for the Jan. start? No one ever seems to be talking about this program...
  13. Has anyone applied or is anyone applying to the USF Master's Entry-CNL program? Anyone know anyone in the program or anything about? There is NOTHING on the board about it...
  14. So..I have turned down the 2 ABSN programs I got into because I REALLY wanted one school that I did not get into this time around (a master's entry, USF). The program starts in January... and I have about 6 months or so until then (if I get in). I have all the pre-reqs done now (still had some in progress when I applied for this summer), so I am trying to get some sort of related job to get experience to help my application and to do something while I wait. I have applied for admin/assistant/secretary jobs in three hospitals around this area. I just applied online this week for about 8 jobs and haven't heard back from any yet (some I didn't apply til the end of the week, some earlier in the week). I hope I can get one of those, but don't know what to do if I can't get one. It's kinda hard because the job would potentially only be for 6 months, but I really want something related to health care to help my application. I graduated from college in 07 but haven't worked, except hospital volunteering, since I was working on my prereq's since i graduated. I don't know if it is enough time to do any sort of training (CNA, MA) before jan because then by the time I did the training, it wouldn't be much time to actually work. Also the cna training around here in the bay area is pretty expensive. I don't know if I will get called for the jobs I applied because it seems like you have to have sooo much hospital experience to even get and admin asst job! ANYONE have any experience in this area?? Or any advice on what I should do??
  15. Yea I got the email too. My family is pushing me to do it but im not sure. Did you already email back anne? What did she say, do you know how many spots there are?
  16. I think they just sent out letters for the SF location. I have a friend who is applying to san mateo and applications aren't due until July I believe. Black cat: sorry you didn't get in . You seem very qualified, the only thing I can think of is that sometimes they have people that were supposed to be in different start dates or locations (have already applied to SM SF for this April/MAy) but for some reason it didn't work out and they reapplied for this one. I know someone who that happend to her. Or people who have been on waiting lists before and reapplied. I know it shouldn't matter and that's not fair! I wonder how many applied, does anyone know?
  17. Yes you do have to take the NET, they have several dates to take the test at the oakland campus. I was accepted for the fall 2008 sf location, but am most likely attending a different program. I had a 3.6 undergrad gpa and have been a volunteer at 2 hospitals over the last year and a half. I applied with most pre reqs completed and planned on just taking the patho/pharm classes if I was accepted and decided to go there. Hope that helps!
  18. anyone know how long it takes to do the master's portion if you decide to do the BSN?MSN combined program??? So how long after the 15 mo ?
  19. Yes thank you very much for posting ! That is very helpful! Definitely rethinking the housing situation!
  20. So I really hope that I can get into a place like water, because some of those places are seriously depressing, you must have gotten lucky because you got a single too. I looked at Columbia's res halls out of curiosity, and there places seem to be A LOT nicer and about half the price! But I guess thats because it's Columbia! Thanks for the website it's quite interesting/helpful! Has anyone gotten their info packets yet?
  21. Banana, I totally feel the same way, I would prefer to live in grad housing because I feel too "old" to live in undergrad-I'm 23, and I can't imagine sharing a room, even if it's a small single at least I would have my own. I shared a room for 2 semesters in undergrad and I would feel like I am stepping back in time. Don't really know what to do about this, I've looked some of the housing up online and I think some buildings are 2br/2 student apartments and that would be nice, but what if i don't get a good place? hmmm...
  22. Thanks for the advice guys, it's very assuring! May I ask , how come you guys are living off campus? Oh and I am not taking a car either, I heard that parking is of course very expensive, something like $700 a month in a garage!
  23. So I'm kinda freaking out now...I know, I just got in 2 days ago and now I keep going back and forth between being excited, and being scared of moving across the country. I've lived in CA my whole life, but then I think NYU would be a great experience and it's only 15 months and I want to be a nurse asap. I don't know why I am just feeling really scared ha, but staying here would mean applying to places over again for next jan or spring.Anyone have any advice for me?
  24. anyone know when orientation is?
  25. Thanks guys I'm super excited! Now I have to figure everything else out! So I am going to live on campus, since I know NOTHING about NYC. Does anyone know if the people in the 15-month prog. live in undergrad housing? Im assuming so...I don't know how many they admit.
