Thanks for all the info! Do you know if Maric requires a certain amount of experience, like 6 months for example? I have a friend who is also interested but doesn't have any medical experience. If he were to take a CNA class now (and be done before the august app deadline for Fall 08) would it be even considered? Thanks!

thanks for all the helpful responses! it looks like i've had another opportunity pop up as I found out about a private school for an accelerated Associate Degree RN program that will cost me much less than the LVN + LVN-RN bridge programs together. thanks again everyone!

Hi, I just got a call from a Maric rep today and she told me that the program is 22 months long (the next one in SD starts in Sept) and that I could transfer my pre-req's from the community college. She also told me that GPA didn't matter at all and what mattered the most was your score on the TEAS test. She said that the min. score you need is 80%, and a score of 85% or better would give you a really really good chance of getting into the program. I don't recall her saying anything about needing prior medical experience, but she's mailing me a packet with all of the information about it. (I live in NorCal) Anyway, she was really nice and I didin't get that salesman vibe at all. She just gave me straight-up information. :) Anyway, $50k doesn't sound bad at all for me considering I was just about to apply to a private LVN school that was just as much (well, more like $42k) PLUS an additional $35k+ for their LVN-RN Bridge! (I know, I sound crazy right? but I'm just trying to be done fast) I'm not too worried about the BSN part either since I know that UofP and Kaplan have the programs. I've applied to and been rejected to the Cal State BSN programs so, no I am not going to spend anymore time waiting - esp in a waiting list! LOL. I have a question, I have prev. experience as an RDA (reg. dental assistant), do you think they'll accept that? And I'm a bit confused regarding what someone said about having a harder time getting a seat because of transferring classes from another college?? Oh, and I took the TEAS test back in January and got a 83% - if you were me, would you stick with it, or retake to get 85 or better? thanks!

I have one more question :) I've read on some threads that some ppl have had trouble transferring their classes out of the private LVN school when trying to apply into an LVN-RN Bridge. My question is, are they referring to the other RN pre-req's such as microbiology, human development, etc type classes? Cuz if that's what they are referring to then I shouldn't have a problem since I've completed them at a CC already, right? I just want to clear this up before I apply to the LVN prog. Thanks!

I didn't get into 3 of the 4 Cal State RN programs I've applied to for Fall 08 and I'm still waiting to hear from the last one. I'm really scared that I won't get accepted In the meantime, a private vocational LVN program nearby will start a 12 month prog. in June (next month). That means the application for that is due THIS FRIDAY, and I would have to take their entrance exam on tuesday. I just found out about this program last week and I feel like it's all so soon and that I haven't had time to really think if it's the right choice.. So, I don't know if I should jump on that opportunity and take an LVN-RN bridge program afterwards, OR try one more round of applying to RN-prog's that start Spring 09?? (these are schools without waitlists, cuz that's the last thing I want!) Anyway, I really need some encouraging advice.. What would YOU do? I need as many points of view as I can get because the LVN prog's deadline is this friday.. thanks in advance!

Wow thanks for posting this! I have been looking at LVN programs around the Bay Area too :) Do you know anything about American College of Nursing in Concord? I'm considering between that, WCC and Gurnick since they are the closest distance to me. All I know is that it's a 12-month program with classes M-Th, and it costs about $25k. Their next program starts on June 2nd, which I'm really tempted to sign up for.. About WCC - do you know how long their program is/cost/start of next class? I've emailed them through their website but no one has gotten back to me yet. Thanks!!

Hi everyone :) I'm new here.. I am a pre-nursing student aspiring to become an aesthetic nurse and was just wondering, does it matter if an RN grauduated w/a BSN or ADN in obtaining the aesthetic nurse certification? How about when it comes to opening up your own practice? And is it easy to find a job in that area? I am from CA if that makes a difference. Thanks in Advance!
