NJ Licensure with F1 status
thanks for the quick reply suzanne. i actually wasn't thinking that far coz i also need to come home after the duration of my studies. i just wanted to get the licensure thing done and over with and i am only concerned that from the tone of their voice, they might not give me the license even if i earned it by satisfying all requirements when there is nothing that legally prohibits me from getting one

NJ Licensure with F1 status
Hi everyone. I have a concern with my RN license application for New Jersey and I really hope you guys can help me. I am a foreign nursing graduate and am here in NY on a valid F1 visa (for English Language studies). I applied for RN licensure with the NJ BON, took and passed the TOEFL and NCLEX-RN last December. I also completed all the other requirements such as the fingerprinting for the criminal background check and also submitted a copy of my ssn. They also asked me to submit my certificate of eligibility for my F1 status and I complied. Now my problem is, when I called them to follow up, they're saying that they have to ask the lawyers to review my case because they're not sure if I can be granted a license since I am on F1 visa. Im really confused and worried because I've been waiting for this for months and I thought when they accepted all my credentials and gave me the ATT, that's because they found me eligible for licensure. Is there a law on this? I already called USCIS to verify and they're saying that nothing is written on this. I hope someone here can put my mind at ease and enlighten me, maybe someone who encountered the same experience. Thank you in advance for your response.

hi winny103! i only concentrated on saunders 4th edition for the content, kaplan for the strategies, and a few days before the exam i was able to read this book by linda lacharity called prioritization, delagation and assignments, which really helped during the actual exam coz i got A LOT of prioritization questions. when is your exam? i wish you the best. i followed the advice of our friends here to practice deep breathing during the exam, it clears my head especially when the questions are getting tougher. and remember to practice, practice, practice, and most of all pray! good luck ! :)

i just finished the exam a few hours ago, it took me FIVE hours to answer all 265 questions, and as soon as the computer shut down I felt like crying and breaking down. I don't know if it was from the fact that I didn't sleep much last night or because I felt so dumb not knowing the answers to some of the questions. I got a lot of pharma questions, some of which I haven't heard or read about, and a lot of diabetes and prioritization questions. I didn't get a lot of math, had 1 SATA and 1 "arrange in chronological order". right now i just feel like i don't know what hit me. i guess the waiting is the hardest part.

dec 2 is fast approaching... i used to feel really anxious, sometimes even sick to my stomach as i count off the days, but now, surprisingly, i just feel excited. of course there's that little part of me that's nervous and wondering if im really really ready, but i guess that's normal. just knowing that this will be over soon is such a relief.i just hope this feeling of "excited-ness" and unusual peace of mind stays with me till tuesday to all of us december test takers, you're all in my prayers. belated happy thanksgiving to all, and here's wishing that we all have more reasons to be thankful for this december as we pass our exams :)

discrepancy in name
hi leiza, i also have the same problem. i have a valid passport and a newly issued US tourist visa with the name that I have been using as a child and during my first course in college. However, just recently my nursing school asked for an original NSO birth certificate (required for graduation and local board) and I discovered that I have been using the wrong name the whole time (angel insteard of angelea), and since NSO birth certificates weren't required before when applying for a passport, my name there as well on my US visa is not the correct name. my nursing school used my correct name for the diploma and TOR, so I had to use the same for my CGFNS and NCLEX application. now that i saw ur post, im also feeling anxious already. can u tell me how you were able to solve it? would appreaciate any inputs you can share. thanks!

Steps in applying for Illinois and reciprocity issues
i need your help guys... i recently applied for licensure in illinois. i went to school yesterday and received certified true copies of the documents they sent for CES (TOR and RLE plus Request for Academic Records) and found out that instead of writing the full Maria plus my second name, the school wrote Ma. (abbreviated form) on my TOR instead. All the other documents have Maria written on it. so my question is, will cgfns accept that or will it be a cause of problem and delays in the processing of my application? what do i do now? sorry if im being paranoid about this, i just want to be sure thanks in advance for all your help :)
