Would It Be Better To Be A Lpn First, Then Go For Rn?
I have been out of HS for twenty years, I just looked a my HS transcript recently, I "assumed" that I took them. I applied for the Spring 2008 program and thats when they informed me that I didnt have it. I want to be a nurse RN, but in my situation I dont have the luxury of time like many people ( 39yrs old), I started my prereq for my ADN 3 semesters ago, now I am at a standstill. I have decided to go for my LPN so I can at least get my foot in the door and in the midst of that complete what ever prereqs is left and apply for the ADN program again. I know what I want it is jst frustrating at times hearing about the waiting list and all the negative stuff.

Let's introduce ourselves...
what school are you attending, and congrats. This is the reason I decided to go for the LPN first because I finish my prereq and still on the waiting list at BCC.

Hi, just a quick question, I am reading all these threads andyou passed with either 105, 75 or 8o question, is your test stopped when you passed a certain amount of questions, how many question are on the test. Also are you allowed to work as a nurse before you pass your NYCLEX, please dont think these are dumb questions.

Backtrack LPN then RN
Thanks to everyone that replied, hope is not lost, I will continue for the LPN and then proceed for the RN. At least I know that I will have the experience as an LPN while I go for my RN

Age is just a number
Are you ever too "old" to go to nursing school. I am 39 nine, is it worth it. Sometimes I just want to quit, but quit and do what this is the reason that I decided to go back to school. Quick question, my sister is a RN currently NICU nurse, I am trying to get into nursing with no help what so ever from her. Sometimes I think she does not want me to succeed. There is room for both of us . I ask her questions pertaing to my class and she tells me she dosent remember, it been too long ago. She offer no type of input. If the shoe was on the other food I would gladly help her.

Backtrack LPN then RN
After 1 year of trying to complete my pre reqs for ADN RN program in my county, I found out that I still am missing 3 classes that I never took in H.S, never mind that I graduated from HS twenty something years ago. By the time I finsh these I will still be placed on the waiting list for the program. I am so frustrated I have decided to try for the LPN program where there is no waiting list and then proceed after that for my RN . I feel like I am going backwards. Like a yoyo, I s there anyone who thinks this is a sucky idea. People are telling me LPN will be obselete soon, I just dont want to waist time, I have just decided a year ago to go back to school I have 2 grown children and two young ones, I want a career and this is what I want I know that it is going to be hard going to school and having kids, but I believe it it is worth it. not to mention that I am not youn anymore, I was hoping to have a least a good twenty something more years as a nurse after I finish school. Thats if I dont win the lotto first.

mount laurel technical school in nj
I went to Lincoln Technical In Mt. Laurel to get information, took their minis passed and they were ready to sign me up. what they failed to tell me was that the cost was 22,000 for 12 months, now why would I want to go to a school that cost so much more that getting your ADN RN,it ridiculous, they are other schools with much better reputations and cost way less. I do not think they ever had a graduating class as yet.

Would It Be Better To Be A Lpn First, Then Go For Rn?
I am happy that your are in, I feel lik a yo yo I statrted my prequisites for RN ADN applied to the program and found out that I did not take biology or chemistry in HS. After all this time one year has passed and I am not in the program, when I finish these last 3 pre recs I will still be on the waiting list for the Rn program. I have decided to go for the LPN and then start working and in the midst of that go for my RN. I never realized it was this diffucult. I want to be a RN more that anything, I feel like I am going backward by going for the LPN, I just need to get my foot in the door, not getting any younger, 39 years old and still do not have a career
