  1. I graduated LPN school in December and passed AR boards in February, I also fell in love with Hospice during clinicals, but the local hospice does not hire LPNs. My biggest thing is...I work in a nursing home and have 8 hospice residents that i provide extensive care for....y would I not qualify to take care of them as a hospice nurse?? The other thing is one of my hospice residents is in her final days, and I spend all of my spare time at work with her. One of the other nurses at the facility made the comment..."Isn't that what the hospice nurses are for?".....I tried explaining to her that they thought she was in her final days twice b4 and had someone there 24-7 for 4 days...and she pulled through. I love all of my pts., but the hospice ones r extra special because they are usually alone when at a ltc facility....how can I get through to her ....it's almost as if she is bitter by a past experience with hospice and her father's death 2 years ago... HELP!!! No matter what anyother co-worker says my residents will not die alone.....
  2. I have already posted an introduction, but I have a question.....I have worked in three different areas of nursing since graduating in December of 2007...Cardiology, Nursing home, and Med surg....I am now looking into a position in dialysis....will i ever find my nitch......I loved all three positions, but was really turned off by the co-workers and employers...and the fact I had immense responsibility straight out of school....help....Will I know when I find the right place????? :banghead:
  3. hey everyone...i'm karrie...i graduated in december, went to work for a cardiologist, and passed nclex on february 8th....and boy was i sweating it...took all 205 questions while noone else in my class took over 120:yeah::yeah:
  4. :redpinkhe:redpinkhei am also new to a cardiology clinic, but we are starting to do heart caths within the next couple of weeks, and i am horrified....i am a baby lpn and did not have to learn alot about strips and heart rythms in school, so all of this is new to me. i didn't even know how to obtain abi's until last week......how did you get through?:redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe
  5. i am about to graduate from nursing school and was curious as to how much experience and is there any special training i need to do agency work?:monkeydance:
  6. Just a bit of info....I am a senior in LPN school and we do practice some things on each other, but it is our decision as to whether we want to be practiced on. Another way I have to look at it is "do you want me sticking you if I haven't practiced first?" There is insurance obtained by the students and schools, and this is one of the most carefully monitored practices we do. Glad to see someone is curious.
  7. :uhoh3:please help!!!! i have to do a concept map on diabetes mellitus and have no idea of where to begin. checked out a few websites, but didn't find much that would help me. please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. :balloons:hang in there, we have one guy and twenty-four females in our nursing class, i would really hate to be him, or you for that matter. don't let anyone discourage you, some of the best nurses i have worked with are male, be proud of what you have chosen.
