Could you explain what you mean by "practice" questions at your local library? Do you have a website? My library website does not have any practice questions posted.

Georgygirl28 Don't feel bad - I took that test today also - my first one - I DID pass but I must say it was AWFUL!! I read the module front to back and back to front. There were a lot of things on that test that I did NOT have information on in my module!! I am a bit confused and very worried about pursuing this - I only received a "C" and I am an "A" student.

It's not just California - it is the same here in Missouri. No jobs.

I do think it is for sure the economy right now that is causing the shortage of nursing jobs. I am trying to get on at a hospital as a new grad, and I talked to the charge nurse yesterday - she told me as we speak she has 5 patients on the floor. They are laying off nurses, and any new hires are being given to those nurses that already work in the facility. So many people have lost their jobs, and with that they have no insurance many times. Those people who were considering having those surgeries that are not life/death are just simply holding off on those for now because they don't want to spend the money, or they are afraid to take any time off of work or both. It is not a good situation for sure out there right now - luckily at this moment I don't need a job - so I am working on obtaining my RN. No jobs means its a good time to go to school if you can do it.

OMG That was SO funny and SO very accurate. I have just graduated, and I TOTALLY felt as you do. I would see my classmates flittering around with their "mentors" and me, well I was always alone -- well except for that crow!! It's fun to see posts like this - makes us realize we are only human and we are NOT alone. Thank you!:chuckle

I am a new grad and I do not know what the term "HCA" means - can someone shed some light on the "newbie"? Thank you! :wink2:

Daytonite you are one of my FAVORITES on this site. I have seen this mneumonic many times, but I just don't quite "get" it. So you need all three items (PACO, HCO and PH) to make your determination right? But this mneumonic only lists two things. I am really struggling on this stuff. Its only the COMPENSATION part that is messing me up. If it is just basic cut and dry - I get that, but am just now being introduced to this Compensation thing and its really throwing me off.

I have heard several people at our college in Missouri having the same problem. I guess science changes?? Maybe that is why they only accept credits from 5 years or less.

I was a paralegal before becoming a nursing student. I have seen the legal side of our occupation, and all I can say is. . .document, document, document!
