TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Amen!!! Hey have you guys heard about this new series yet (called Nurse Jackie)? There are a couple of previews on this link if you are interested. I think it starts in June. Let's hope we are all too busy by then to watch it, right? http://www.sho.com/site/video/brightcove/series/title.do?bcpid=1772825635

Aggie, you are too funny!!! AND I can totally relate to the whole $$$ at TCU and Baylor. I didn't look at UTA, but I will definitely take your word for it. I completely understand about staying close for the hubby and the kiddo's school.

I will be happy to get summer OR fall. I just want in... and I didn't apply anywhere else. Great stats by the way.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. I feel like I more than earned that freakin' bump too. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a M.Ed. at a different university, then, I came here and TWU kicked my butt (both academically and financially)! The whole reason I went to TWU was for the bump. It still stinks that I didn't quite make it. Really though, I don't have complete confidence that they would pick my (real) 3.58 over a (true) 4.0 from someone else from another college. I mean you could never really know for sure. What are your stats Aggie? I know we've got some tough competition. I went to class with several > 4.0. Did you apply for summer and/or fall?

I really hope you're right! I wasn't too worried until I heard someone on here say there were something like 300-350 applicants for summer.

Are you applying for summer or fall or either? I think you certainly sound competitive for fall. I personally think...and I could be TOTALLY wrong, that unless you've got a GPA of 4.0 and a NET above 80...that with only 30 slots....summer is not very likely. I'm not very optimistic about summer myself. As for fall...you sound great with that GPA. Who knows how much emphasis they put on the NET, but wasn't the cut-off like 55 for that?

So, I guess not hearing means they could still ALL be letters of acceptance, right? I'm just trying to keep the attitude, that if it is meant to be, it will be. You know? As long as we know that we did everything we could to get in, then it really isn't in our hands anymore. "Que sera sera".

I bet you're SICK of filling out applications....and they are all sooooo different in regards to their requirements. You'll be in by fall....no doubt!
-
TWU Fast Track Summer '09
That's good to hear, because I do have a 79 on the NET. Unfortunately, I just missed the 4.0 GPA. My stats might get me into fall, but I highly doubt they'll get me into the summer program. Who would have ever thought that a 3.98 wouldn't be good enough?...lol Breathe.....just breathe....lol

jtbrass....If your net score is competitive, I'm sure you're fine with a 4.0. The question is....what is a competitive NET score? I've heard of some off the chart NET scores. I agree with the person earlier who said something about TWU possibly looking at "other criteria", which might explain why they are taking so long to process applications. The question becomes then, what else are they looking at? It's not like we'll ever really know. Frankly, I'll be happy with fast track OR fall, but I didn't apply anywhere else.

How bored are we from all this waiting? Maybe we should compare GPAs and NET scores again.....lol. I mean, you know...if there are more than 30 people on here with GPAs over 4.0 and NET score over 75, then I guess we know where we stand, right? By the way, congrats to all of you who have both of those things! I unfortunately only have one of them. I hope it's enough. By the way, that's just a criteria that I came up with...nothing official.

Ouch....300 applicants? All I can say is...WOW. I'm not sure which to be more stressed about the GPA or the NET?!

I heard Denton campus is a LOT of note taking. Upwards of 9-10 pages 2 class periods per week. Parkland is supposed to be geared more toward working people (with less note taking). It still sounds pretty tough, but a little more doable and only one day a week.

TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Yes, and it's quite a "leap of faith" considering I don't even know if I'll get in or not.

TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Are you aware of the fact that TWU also has a patho phs class at Parkland as well as Denton campus? Just an FYI.
-
TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Just wondering....Is anyone taking patho physiology in the spring?
-
TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Yes it is and it was pretty straightforward with no surprises. Thank goodness! Good luck everyone. I guess the clock starts ticking now.

TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Has anyone received any additional information on WHEN the application will be up? December is almost over and the application still says "check back in December".
-
TWU Fast Track Summer '09
That's exactly what I ran into. The ONLY grades that I can see on Portal are the classes that I completed at TWU. I was assured that the approved courses from my other universities are "in my folder". I'm going to apply as soon as possible just in case there are any holes. That way, there should be time to make any corrections if necessary.

TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Yes, I had my first degree evaluated when I first started at TWU over a year ago. I don't recall that it took that long. They were pretty quick (and thorough)!

TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Hi lovelovelove. I just took the November NET and I just got my scores today. It took almost 2 weeks to get them back (probably because of the holiday). The actual test started at 8:00 and we were out by 11:30 a.m. I should have studied, but I really didn't have time. I ended up with a 79 reading comp, but I'm afraid that might not cut it for fast track. It should be good for fall though. I'm still going to give fast track a try just the same. You never know... Maybe maybe. There are just soooo many people at school with off the chart GPAs and NET scores. It's ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble, but it's just gotten crazy competitive this past semester and upcoming year. Good luck to everyone!!!

TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Can't say for sure, but if I had to guess, I'd say most likely when the semester is over and grades are posted for TWU. It's interesting that they took your check so early though. Hmm....
-
TWU Fast Track Summer '09
I'm sure this question has already been asked, but about how long does it take to get your scores back on the NET? Does it seem to anyone else that we are always "waiting" for something?
-
TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Thanks so much for the links AggieNurse. I figure anything at this point might be helpful. I'm wishing I would have scheduled my NET in December instead of November now, because I'm so busy studying for this CRAZY micro class that I don't know when I'm going to get a chance to study for the NET. I guess I'll either know it at this point or I won't. Can you really study for reading comprehension anyway? I have a question...does anyone else every worry that even though they say they don't really look at the math or anything besides the reading, that they still see the other scores and just maybe....it plays a role in their decision? Just a thought. I think I must just be looking for things to worry about at this point.

TWU Spring 2009
You guys are all so awesome. I've been following your posts for a while now, mainly trying to figure out what to expect (I'm applying for fast track in Dallas 09). What I'm trying to keep in my mind, and what I would like to remind all of you .... is that the ONLY reason you aren't getting in with these GREAT GPAs is due to teacher shortage NOT because you aren't qualified. Hopefully, some of you will consider this fact after you've been in nursing a few years. I bet some of you would make wonderful nursing professors. I've enjoyed reading all of your inspiring words to each other these past few days (a sure sign of great nurses). Good luck to everyone. Hang in there you're going to do great things! :icon_hug:
