  1. I'm a new grad in the NICU and I've been there for about 3 months. I absolutely love my job and couldn't think of a better place that I could work. I'm having the normal problems most new grads have in the NICU, like time management, etc. My main problem is that I get so incredibly bored when I'm not at work (I work 3 12's a week). I'm a single woman with no children, I'm working nights so most people are sleeping when I'm awake, and nursing school took up so much of my time the past 2 years that I've completely forgotten what I like to do as hobbies. I was just curious as to what other new grads or veteran nurses do with their free time. Thanks :)
  2. Wren, Were you straight out of school when you were hired?
  3. I am a new nurse who has been working for about 3 months. I plan on getting at least a year of experience in the hospital, but I really want to move on to some kind of case management or basically any job a nurse does at an insurance company. Lately I've been trying to decide whether I should go back to school in the fall to get either an additional degree or my masters in some business/finance area to get into an office type job. My question is, with around a year of experience in the NICU, will I stand a chance at getting one of these jobs or will I need additional requirements due to my lack of experience in diverse settings?
  4. If you need your BSN or not is completely based on where you plan to work after graduation. I have my BSN, and the hospital I am working at is moving towards magnet status (60% of nurses have to be bsn). They are asking new graduate RNs to go back to school to get their BSN and the only reason I got my job (NICU) is because I had my BSN. They are still hiring ADNs, but you might get asked to go back to school. BSNs don't get paid anymore than the ADNs though.
