We are think about moving to Arizona or Nevada....... I am nurse with 10 years oncology nursing experience. I make $31.05/hr. Is this comparable to Arizona pay? Thanks a million...... :)

4:1 inpt oncology

No Way!!!!!! My unit is overstaffed so that people who do not want to work extra hours do not have too. In fact there are many RN's who work the 2-3-2-3 plan (2 twelves one week, 3 twelves the next). But, about 7 years ago they were pestering the nurses to work over-time and the nurse threatened to unionize and from then on we are not asked to work overtime unless we want it. Thank Goodness.......

We got a retention bonus one year. It went like this: RN's that had been there 10 years got $10,000, RN's that had been there 5 years got $6,000. But the govt took almost half-bonuses are taxed at a higher rate. Don't you just love Uncle Sam? Anyway, at the time I qualified for the $6,000 bonus, my check was $3200 after Sam saw it.

Do you give the ativan/dex/zofran together?

I work on an oncology floor and was wondering if any of you work at an institution that uses antiemetic continuous gtt bags or any of the ginger products, like the pops for nausea management? We do not, but I had a pt. who said she came from a hosp. that gave her a continuous gtt of ativan + decadron + benedryl mixed in a 500cc bag. We just recently starting giving zofran and benedryl together b/c the MD's said it works better that way. I was wondering what other concoctions are out there for N/V? Thanks!

Wow-I am really spoiled. I work at a major teaching hospital so we always have an intern on the floor 24/7. We are thinking about moving to a small town that does not have access to a teaching hospital. I am so fearful of the changes that I am going to have to get used to at a non-teaching hospital..........
