stressed out
Hang in there. And I DO understand. Your body and mind are trying to deal with all the pent up stress you have endured over the last few months. It is only natural. It's your body telling you that you need a break. Try and not let a job define who you are. Yes, you are a nurse, but you are a person, and you were/are still a good person of worth also, before this job. This sometimes happens in the work force. (It has happened to me). They find a dedicated worker, and they feel they can pile work on that person. UIntil it's just too much. Then don't listen when that person speaks up. Concentrate on yourself right now. Finish school, and give yourself a break. Be kind to yourself. There must be something better out there for you.

Good Bye to Nursing for me...
Wow, I do understand how you feel. 8 years ago, as a new nurse, I had two awful preceptors, one right after the other...and then the hospital nursing turned me off. Not 5 seconds did I have with my patients. One day, a dying patient asked me not to leave him, he was afraid. And I remember that I had SO much work to do, but I couldn't leave him. I was all done after that. Maybe it just wasn't for me. I have done allot of different jobs over the years, but now I am giving nursing a break. I had a great job for the last 5 years, but then we had to move to Hawaii (military) and I will never find a job like that one again. I miss it, and at the same time, I don't miss the stress of it either.

Intake RN
Hi all, I wondered if there are any nurses on this list that work in the intake department of their HHA. I was a per diem RN for our agency for 1 1/2 years, and recently took a part time position in Intake. I like it, but I get confused with all the insurance things. I know it will come in time. Would love to chat with someone doing the same kind of job! Thanks all! paula

Your Worst Mistake
This is actually not my error, but I prevented an ER nurse from giving my 11 year old an incorrect dosage. The doc had ordered Benedryl 25mg IM to head off a mild allergic reaction. My son weighs 120 pounds and is 5'2" tall.(Took almost 45 minutes to get the med delivered, but that's another story). Anyway, the nurse comes in with a syringe and pulls it out of his pocket. I ask him what the dosage is and he says 25mg of Benadryl. I say, ya know, there seems like an awful lot of med in that syringe....to which he immediately does a double take, and says Oh!....and walks over to the sink to waste some! Man, I hate that ER.........(by the way, I don't work there!) Paula
