  1. They supply paper and pencils. No calculators.
  2. My GPA was 3.72 and NET was 83 Composite (70 Reading, 96 math) I think. I finished all the pre-reqs before I started. Hope this helps.
  3. Things at GPC are definitely looking up. Our class (graduating Spring 2010) started at Clarkston with 89 students and we have 80 left. Personally, I haven't made below an 84 on any exam, and I've also managed to squeak out a few A's. Granted I'm only in my 1st semester, but I'll be getting a high B in the course. I don't think it's nearly as hard as people say it is. I think the majority of people complaining are ex students, but I could be wrong. This is a very good program and very competitive. Most people I have spoken to got in with a 3.0 gpa and above. Overall, my GPC experience has been very good. The staff are very helpful and there is now a tutorial lab for nursing students. Faculty are willing to meet outside of class to help students who are struggling. Nursing school anywhere is tough. Let's face it. But this is a terrific program with an NCLEX passage rate unmatched anywhere in the state of Georgia. I just get so tired of reading negative posts about GPC. Maybe things were different in the past, but they're not that way now. Those who dropped out in Fundamentals probably would not have made it through nursing school, and some dropped out because they just didn't like it. Me? I'm enjoying the ride while I can because I know it will get tough at some point.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm somewhat new to this forum, so forgive me....I posted this in another thread, but this thread seems much more recent. I start my 1st semester of nursing courses in the Fall 2008 at Clarkston. I have not yet taken BIO 1913 (Micro), and am unable to do so this summer. Do other people have pre-reqs not yet completed? I know you're allowed to take pre-reqs during the nursing curriculum, but is it really possible? I have until my 3rd semester to take Micro. For those of you who've completed your 1st year of nursing at GPC, should I take it during my 1st semester or my 2nd? For those of you wondering what GPA's, etc GPC accepted, I have a 3.65 cumulative GPA, and an 83 comprehensive NET score (70 verbal, 93 math), and my science GPA was 4.0. Thanks so much for your help! Look forward to meeting some of you soon! M
  5. Hi, I've been accepted to GPC's nursing program and will start in the Fall. I have a couple of questions, and also a few answers to some of the previous posts. First, to answer a few questions regarding grades of people who have gotten into GPC: my GPA (cumulative) is 3.65 and my NET scores were 93 Math, 70 Reading (83 overall score/85th percentile). My science GPA is 4.0. Second, I have taken all general education classes EXCEPT 1913 (Micro). I am unable to take it this summer, and I start my nursing courses in the Fall. I know GPC doesn't require all general education classes to be completed prior to starting the program, however I am aware that I have until my 3rd semester to take it. For those of you who have completed your 1st year of nursing at GPC, should I take it Micro in the Fall (along with NURS 1921) or should I take it in the Spring (with 2nd semester of nursing courses)? Also, how often does GPC offer nursing courses in the summer, particularly the 3rd nursing semester courses? Finally, are you really as busy during the nursing curriculum as everyone says? Thanks so much for your help! M
  6. Thanks for your help! Just out of curiosity, what were your NET scores and GPA? Marion
  7. Hi, I just moved to Georgia from the Midwest and have begun my prereq's at GPC. I have an undergraduate degree (BA), so I don't have to do as many prereq's as most, and I will be completely finished with all of my General Education Requirements by Fall, 2008. I'm taking A&P I this semester and am aiming for Straight A's (Hopefully). I take the NET Test next Saturday and I feel prepared (as long as there are no surprises--I've studied the Study Guide available from the makers of the NET test). I'm applying to GPC for the Fall, 2008 semester. In my transfer classes, I have over a 3.0 GPA (chemistry, math, english, psych, and the humanities). However, my issue is that I began doing prereq's for another program at another school in the Midwest and dropped some courses. I'm concerned that GPC will not accept me (even though my grades at the other school were great) because of my dropped courses (1 each term for 3 terms- and I wasn't taking a full load). Although I'll hopefully do very well on the NET test and have a great GPA, I'm concerned they'll be prone to looking at my prior classes and history of dropping courses. This is the first time I've taken a full courseload since completing my BA in '01. I hope they don't think I can't commit to something, and I hope that my transfer credits and this semester will be enough to prove to them that I am a serious student. Any thoughts? Or am I just completely paranoid.... Thanks, Marissa
