  1. That's awesome. Congratulations!
  2. Thank you everybody..... How did your exam go, Konnie? Thank you for the great posting Avery. I see that you live in Colorado Springs. My husband and I will be moving there around May. How is the job market for starting CNAs there? All I can see is that they want 1 year experience. :/
  3. How are the pre-reqs going? That is my next goal beside getting a job as a CNA. I want definitely to make this experience before becoming RN. And I also think that CNA is a job that would make me happy, that's why I did it. I want to find a job where I can work the day shift. My husband is in the military and we already don't have much time together. I will pray for you
  4. Thank you for the prayers Commuter and Konnie . I passed the exam. I can't be too happy yet, cause I still can't believe it. I had to do handwashing, nail care, ROM lower body, and urinal. I thought I messed up on something, but I couldn't think of anything. After waiting and a lot of headache I found out that I did everything perfect :yelclap:
  5. I had my exam today: PASSED!!! Woooohoooo! :monkeydance:
  6. I'm so nervous. I know all my skills but I always mess up when I'm getting tested. We will be performing the skills on our class mates and I'm bad with acting like the class mate is my resident. I hope it will be over soon and I won't have to wait too long. I also hope that I will be lucky and get the easy skills. Do I have to do the opening procedure everytime I start a new skill? For example, I brush the residents teeth and then I have to walk him? And also....I can put the laundry bag at the foot of the bed or the chair but what about the plastic/trash bag? Can I leave it on the floor? I'm coming up with all those questions now . It always happens when I get nervous. I hope the RC person will be nice Still........can you pray for me please ............
  7. I don't really care what people will say. I am a nurse aide and I'm proud of it. We want to help people and if it's to change their diper that will make them feel better so let it be it. :) Someone has to do it and I won't mind doing it. What would happen with them if it wasn't for nurse aides and everyone would think "EWWWW POOOOP"?!
  8. Thank you for encouragement :) Today was my sencond day and sadly the last. I loved it and I felt already so much different. Now I can't wait to pass my state exam next week and to get a job.
  9. Today was my first of two clinical days. I'm disappointed because I thought I would be doing much better. I worked with another student when giving a shower. I was scared that I would hurt the resident when washing them and I didn't really know how to clean the private parts. I mean, I know how to clean them but I was very embarassed to touch them I guess :uhoh21:....... I hope this is all normal in the beginning? That was probably my biggest problem besides feeling lost. I feel like I didn't do enough and I hope that it will be better tomorrow..... How were your first days of clinicals? Oh yeah..........HAPPY THANKSGIVING
  10. I feel the same way. I remember the skills but once I have people looking at what I'm going, I forget my steps. My husband is practicing with me and it really helps.
  11. Yes Amanda, I started class last week and I love it. The more I read here and the more I talk to my classmates, the more I realize that my "fears" are normal.
  12. You are both right. I'm probably looking too much into it. I'm probably just nervous. The only way to find out if I will like the job, is to do it.
  13. And I know, that this was just a dream but it still bothers me. . I was done with my CNA school and started working for a LTC facility. I found it very hard to take care of the residents there and I was grossed out by doing the job....and I hated it and I regreted my decision being a CNA. I know it's stupid that I'm opening a thread aboout it, but I had to. I really want to do the job and to help people. I'm wondering a lot how it will be, and if I will like it. I'm little scared/worried.
  14. Yikes :uhoh21: I agree. I find it very interesting to hear everyones experiences, so keep the thread going please.
  15. Hey there :) Can you tell me what the pre-reqs are and how to get started. I don't know anything about the way college in America works and it's pretty confusing I know that I want to do CNA first and then go for RN too. Can you help me with it? I'm also worried about my English language a little, but I hope that it will be good enough.
  16. What was your worst and your best experience as a CNA? Bebi :nuke:
  17. Heeey good job! Congrats :-D It's seems like everybody passes the exams.
  18. Hey Katja Was fuer eine Ueberraschung :-D I live on Hawaii. My husband is in the military ;-). We've been here for little over two years. An estethician specializes in the study of skin care, including facial treatments, body wraps, salt glows, waxing as a form of hair removal, and cosmetic make-up services. Some aestheticians work with dermatologists to offer more services, including laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing, and many types of chemical peels. (Google) Eine Kosmetikerin ;-) Let me know how it goes. Good luck.
  19. I love this forum and I love to hear about all the experiences :nuke:. Why and when did you decide to become a CNA? Here is my story. I'm a lisensed esthetician from Germany. While in esthetician school, I realized that I'm interested in the medical field. Anatomy, dermatology, orthopedy were my favourite subjects. I planned to become a massage therapist after school and to open my own business, but as God didn't plan this for me, it didn't work out with the massage therapy school. I volunteered in a hospital for serval times and I always had fun working there. Because I love helping people, caring for others, and want to make a diffrence in peoples lives, I decited to go into nursing. CNA is just the beginning for me. I'm a little scared , but I think that I will get used to seing things. At least that's what my grandmother told me (she works in an OR)
  20. I'm not sure how to understand your posting :imbar So. what I understand sofar is that I could do the classes, but more or likley I would not be allowed to do most of those things because I'm not a licensed nurse? I just want to make sure I understand
  21. I just checked the closest Community College in my area and the tuition there is 1,550 Dollars. The includes, scrubs, textbook and Adult CPR/First Aid/AED Certification. I also talked to some people form the local hospital and they said that the school seems to have a good reputation. Many of their CNA's were trained over there. They also said that PCT would be beneficial for me, if I want to start working in the ER or want to get my RN in the future. I don't know what I should do.....But I hope for more answers esp. about the PCT.
  22. I plan on starting the CNA training next week. With RN I want to take my time, because I want to brush up my English skills Thank you sofar Irene and Sweetooth :)
