Question for Aria Health SON or CCP Nursing students/graduates?
Hi- If Frankfort is a diploma program, you're better off going for the degree program at CCP- and moving on to get your BSN, as well. You will have more options open to you.

ADN to MSN nurse practitioner online with bachelor in non nursing area
You should look into Drexel University's online program. The bridge portion consists of three courses. I've been in the program for a year and very happy with it so far. They are on the quarter system- each quarter is 10 weeks long. Since I work full time, I take 1 course per quarter- which seems like plenty! I'm in a NP program, which takes longer than others because of the clinical component, but I figure it will take me another 3 years or so to complete. Good luck... Lisa

And- if you've never lived here- it's a great city to live in. Very affordable, very accessible, lots of activity.

Any hospital hiring new grads? anywhere in the country?
Hi- I heard that Johns Hopkins in Baltimore is expanding and might be hiring...I don't know if this is true or just a rumor. It would be worth checking it out. I'm in Philadelphia, and occasionally hear of openings/hiring, but you have to be in the right place at the right time! It's good to try to make connections- most of the time it's who you know!

salary
Sara, They all pay roughly the same, with variations in benefits and shift differentials: about $27-28/hr. CHOP's hourly starts at a little less, around 26/hr. Many are now requiring a BSN for new hires. It's getting tougher to find entry level positions for new grads, and especially with an ADN. Lisa

do you need a BSN to work at Penn. Hosp? Salary Ques
Glamgal- I graduated from CCP in May, and applied to Pennsylvania Hospital in June. They do accept ASN grads! I did have a couple of contacts there, which may have helped a little bit- I was able to reach the nurse recruiter there directly. I did get hired, and am pretty pleased- I only started three weeks ago. One of the terrific benefits is that they will prepay tuition if you want to continue your education (which they do encourage). I also have another degree, but that's not really a factor that is considered when hiring. (From what I understand) On my resume, I put my other degree under "Other experience/education". Ask Elaine T. at CCP for the person to contact at PA. Hosp. in charge of the new nurse transition program. She can give you an intro to her- it might be helpful when it comes time to apply! Good luck!
