hello im a new grad and have applyed to this great hospital in los angeles ...i was offered employment with a 4 months preceptorship i was so happy! a week later i was doing my physical exam everything went well ...until i got to the color blind test well i missed about three of the number color blotches..i have had NO problem with my vision before(as a child or during nursing school) and was even in the military and passed there very strict entrance exams....i got to see the dx. and he asked me a couple of questions and well he said "u can see ull be fine" and that was it. a week later i received a phone call from the employee health office removing my offer for the nicu dept. stating that it might be a risk for the pt's......first questions? is this an american disabilty act violation? im a great nurses! i even asked if i can c my own doctor and take the test again, or b assesed on my assesment skills on the floor before employment starts?... and they said "NO! theyres no point!""well let you contact HR and maybe place u in med-surg?" what!!! i was shocked! i was so angry, i made an appointment with optomology and had my eyes checked, i took the colorblind test over, and the DX stated that i have very mild color deficiency and it will NOT affect my everyday life or my job performance in AnYWAY! I HAVE THEN FORWARDED that paper TO HR...... WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW? SEARCH FOR ANOTHER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY? OR Wait? I LOVE THE NICU AND I COULD EASILY TELL BETWEEN AND ACYANOTIC CHILD AND A PINK BABY, FROM A DUCKY COLOR TO A PALE! IM so confused please i need advice, sincerely, i can c it all nurse!

hello i worked in a la county hospital and i had a total of 8 weeks of orientation.....pretty much long story short...i hated it there.. i loved my nicu postion, hated my preceptor, she was so fake (would tell me im doing great) and during evaluations stated that i needed to pick up the pace, chart less, etc. i was allways complemented on being a hard worker, i was the first one to ge report and start my 0800 feeds/vs etc..but i knew they didnt like me, the floor was ran my veteran RN and it was a case of "the experienced eating the young"...i did great i think for never working an a actual hospitl floor for exampl,i had a vent/adm 1-1 baby within 3 weeks, but it just didnt work. after 8 weeks of giving my best and it obviously not being enough..i decided to quit. my nurse manager adviced me to go to another hospital and apply as a new grad, since i only had 8 weeks orientation.....shes said not even mention it and not place it on my resume, is this a good idea? should i follow her advice or is she setting me up for failure? sorry to sound paranoid but this is my career.... let me know what i should do i am applying for new positions soon! thanks sincerely, worried newbie!

i took my test on monday morning 7/9/07.... wish me luck guys !!!! ill keep u posted .... * i need a miracle......190+ or a blessing but im hoping for both LOL

hi i took plus 190 questions it was hard ...i felt prepared before (i studyed alot) but theres no true way to study for the nclex right? well im praying i passed i felt defeted when i got to my car and wanted to cry .....but i hope to be an rn soon...so wish me luck .k. **i called the BON about a couple of min ago...shes said "check the website tomorrow" like rudly i hope i didnt fail!!! ...she was mean she also said "u took it monday it takes up to 30 days" then i said "really thats a long time to stress is there any way to get it sooner?" shes said "let me check if ur file is complete?" then lastly "shes said check tomorrow" i said thanks! now i want to pass out....im going into shock ...tredenburg position here i come!!!LOL:uhoh3::uhoh21:

well california doesnt have quick results so...pretty much ur just waiing to see if ur name is up on the licensing BON website i think....well thats what im doing checking it everyday ....(took my test monday) wish me luck and ill do the same thanks:uhoh3::uhoh21:

i know urggghhh! y would they make us wait so long in caifornia? i took mine yesterday and well over 190+ questions ...i hope/pray i passed!!! i just found out that california doesnt have quickresults so i think we have to wait till were on the boards licensing web site right? i dont know im confused and i think i just developed signs on OCD....with the BON website (allways checking for my name) LOL wish me luck and ill do the same! lets stick in there well do it. :uhoh21:

:uhoh21:...well i took my boards yesterday and well my computer stopped a 190+ or so...i was dying well i still am.... i went in very prepared i think ..and the nclex just crushed my spirits i got alot of priority no math slight teaching lots of meds (i didnt know -i guessed) and well felt defieded ...i hope/pray i passed ....................i feel ur pain and understand what ur going thru i think i guessed in alot of them and well im hoping it was right guessing (nurse knowledge) LOL i cant sleep cant eat (well a lil LOL) and dying for a drinking (not too good huh) but im hoping and praying that i passed! ill do the same for u. *well be RN's ull see! think happy thoughts!!!!!!

it was a weird test nothing ive ever taking like for example in a question multiple choice two answers werent it but the 2 that sounded good both sounded good ...it was like picking the best ...when they werent both really great... thats sounds dumb huh...also i had questions on which pt should u discharge first (they were all bad!) so i guess or picked the really unstable one....i hope i did good im thinking like a nurse..GOSH i deserve to be a nurse...im just waiting for my results now...i want to pass out...so the time will go by faster LOL:idea:

:uhoh3:i took my boards todat it stopped at 198 or so...i hope i passed im praying i studied....well most of all IM WORRIED! wish me luck everyone..cant wait to save a life!

:uhoh3: i took my nclex exam today at 800am ....i felt very prepared before the exam i did my own review and kaplan questions (got 70% on almost all of the test) i was very confident... i was taking it and received well alot of priority and meds.... it hit the 75 mark after like 1 hour or so. I got a lil anxious but didnt let it get to me......it continued getting little harder and easier at times my two breaks passed (didnt take them) and i wanted to scream...**what is taking me so long or the computer to see that ill make a good nurse?!!!!** well i relaxed went with the first choice in some doubted myself in others but did my best .....i hope i passed i feel sick...when it stopped i literally got tachycardia and wanted to pass out... (shock!!LOL) i was in there for almost 3 hours with a total of 198 questions or so...i lost count. im scared but glad forthe experience. all i can do know is pray right? UURRGGGHHH!!! :uhoh21::trout:
