  1. my favorite site is http://www.scrubsandbeyond.com the store is local and accepts returns/exchanges, but the website has a lot more to choose from than the stores! great sales, also has discounts for local employees
  2. Grads in Tucson, AZ make about $25/hr days.... which is pretty awesome in my mind considering rent for 1bd/1ba is 600-700 for decent areas.
  3. What hospital in citruis heights did he get a job at?
  4. I'm in the program, and I can honestly say it's a blessing. The only cost to me is housing/food for the year, which I would have been paying for any way at any other program. It's not easy, and there have been days (weeks/months) that I thought the intensity was insane.... but not impossible. I'm a total advocate of the Accelerated program, and will probably stay with the UofA for my graduate work as well.
  5. If you're flexible, the University of Arizona, in Tucson, has a great second Bachelor's program. I finished my pre-reqs (took about a year and a half), I applied in January, and got in to this summer's class. It's 14 months long, and the program is sponsored, meaning we don't pay tuition. For me, it was the fastest, cheapest option, so I am stoked to have gotten this opportunity. Good luck!
  6. I sent you a private message! Welcome to AZ!
  7. I live in one of the really far areas, (Carefree) and while it's beautiful, it is not helping my social life, or the mileage on my car. All my friends live in Tempe, Scottsdale, or north Phoenix. Being 25 and unencumbered, I wish I was closer to an area where the average age was less than 50!!
  8. I'd say go with Tucson, it's cheaper and cooler than Phoenix, still close enough to visit for a day if you get a travel bug. Carondelet is a major hospital system, with hospitals in Tucson. There is an article in the May issue of Nurse Week about Carondelet's new grad program. Page 24. :) Good luck!
  9. I'll be moving in June 2nd, but I will be down the Saturday before to sign the lease, paint, and drop off breakables. How are you all moving? Uhaul or movers?
  10. If you go to the parking website there is in fact a place to register with your student ID. I called parking services and they said I was all set after I did that. :)
  11. I say that the first person who gets a permit is the honorary school bus driver for the rest of us. I was able to register with parking services using my student ID, but I need to call about getting a permit on Monday.
  12. Please let me know, too, if you get an answer on where to send the contract for Carondelet. :) Sidenote - I gave away the rest of my mints that I got from Carondelet, from interview weekend, to my dad just so he won't forget where I will be. :)
  13. Has anyone received anything from the school? :clpty: ::: patience patience patience patience ::: Just wondering.
  14. :::yawn, stretch::: hi ho, hi ho, off to the bank and post office I go!
  15. Check your mailboxes, I got my letter today! :) Eeeeeeeeeeh! It's official! :) I think I am going to head down to Tucson and go apartment hunting next week on my day off. I am going to tell my boss in a few weeks when the buzz dies down. I think he will be happy for me, because he knew when I got hired that I may or may not get into nursing school this year. He's totally cool, and I think he would probably appreciate 2-4 weeks notice to replace me.
  16. That actually happened to me last fall.... I got an admission letter to a nursing program from a school to a program that I hadn't actually applied to. I called the school, and they said that the admission office accidentally sent out that letter to a lot of (they didn't give me a number) students who were still in pre-nursing standing! Can you even believe it?! Ok, so yeah, I have been stalking my mailbox daily, as well, and I haven't received anything from the U of A either. Sidenote - I'm starting to think about supplies and am wondering what kind of stethoscope we need. There are so many to choose from. Oh.... and rumor, at my work, got out about me leaving before I even had a chance to tell my boss myself. Hehehehehee. Oh this is going to be fun, I can already tell. How do you tell your boss you are leaving in 2.5 months when you know that he already knows, and he knows that you know? It's like one big fat fake secret.
  17. I work at a grocery store in the cheese department. :) It has nothing to do with nursing, but the job is mindless and can be sort of fun. I have two and a half months until I start! Yaaaay!
  18. MultiColli - you crack me up. I'd bet on Friday, too. I have been checking my mailbox, like a kid waiting for the tooth fairy, every day as well. And no, the email totally took me by surprise. I had to read the letter about six times before the "shocked" look left my face. P.S. - as a reward for myself, I scheduled a massage for Friday morning. I am hoping that by the time the massage is done (~12pm) the mail will be here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope!
  19. Hi hi hi hi hi hi!! I'm still so excited. :) I put Carondelet as my first choice - and that's what I got. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh! Questions - The attachment in the admission email was only 2 pages, right? It appears that the official admission packet that is coming this week will have a bit of paperwork to track down and send back. Also, in the contract that was received by email, do we have to mail it back, or was it just for us to review? Re housing: I would be fine getting an apartment by myself, but I would also be interested in renting a house with 1 or 2 other students in the ASBSN program for the duration of the program. Thanks for all the tips on what areas of Tucson to look at!! That helps a lot! How far, in terms of both distance and time, is it from the NE side to the school? What areas have the worst traffic?
  20. :balloons::clpty::hpygrp: Oh happy happy happy day! I got in to the ASBSN program!!!!!!! I found out via email, and it said that the official letter will be sent out next week, (along with the paperwork, I assume, too). Time to celebrate! Question - for those of us who get in, do you want to get in touch? I'd love to be able to find a roomate (or roomates) who is (are) also in the program.
  21. Oh my. A week has gone by since the interview; ok, well, almost a week. 1 down, 3 to go! I'm getting my fingerprints done tomorrow at the Scottsdale PD.
  22. EEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeh! Thank the Lord almighty that the interview is over. How did everyone else do? I am way more excited about the program now than I was before. My interview went ok, I think. I was so nervous, I honestly couldn't remember the questions or my answers for about an hour after the interview. I really want to get in though!
  23. Yep I applied, and I know of three other people that I did my pre-reqs with that are also applying. I heard through the grapevine that there were more applicants this year than any other year.
  24. Thanks, that helps a lot! I'm so bouncy right now. :balloons: The UofA's website didn't say anything about Northwest being an option, and I haven't heard anything about a second interview process. But I will keep you posted!
  25. Hi! I'm so excited. I just found out that I got selected to interview for U of A's ASBSN program! :w00t: In the email it said to bring my top three choices for healthcare sponsors. I'm not familiar with Tucson, so I'm wondering, what would be good choices? TIA
