  1. I am currently enrolled evil evil 15 month accelerated BSN progarm and the University of Missouri St-Louis. The program is primarly for students whom already have a Bachelors but they also accept what they call "exceptional" transfer students. (Basicallly people with an excellent GPA and the required prereqs) I went to a community college for 2 years for the prereqs and ended up grabbing an assoc while I was there. My program is about 25% transfer students
  2. It should be the key would be to make the early admissions deadline which if memory serves me correct, is in Sept. of every year for the following may class. I started last month.... its not pretty but its doable. We actually have less students than we have seats this year, so even if you dont get in with regular admissions its still very possible that youll make it in. I think 5 or 6 of my classmates were called like a week or two before the program started. There were more offered to fill all of our seats but for some it was just too little time to get prepared so STAY prepared if at all possible :)
  3. yea I know what cha mean. this week has been going by slowly and quickly for me lol. part of me wants to jump right in and start and the other part of me wants to fun for the hills lol! what time is orientation? i kno that i should know but i misplaced my papers and didnt feel like hunting them down. thanks!
  4. HI GUYS! Im going to go buy my BOOKS for class in a couple hours!!! I spoke to the bookstore yesterday and we have a total of TEN WHOLE BOOKS I think, lol i kinda lost count after 6 or 7. So this will be the first time in many years I WILL WEAR A BOOKBAG to class lol. PM me later tonight if you wanna know how much i had to leave at the counter
  5. Hey fellow NS'! David's right about last year's Fafsa covering this summer. The fafsa "year" starts over every summer instead of when the year actually starts. UMSL can award you any student loans and/or grants that fafsa awarded you but they DO NOT grant anyone scholarships during summer semesters, that really bugged me. Due to that clause i wont be recieving half of the transfer scholarship bc the only grant it once a year and both of our spring and fall semesters are in the same yr, and they dont grant on our two summer semesters. But as far as the loans and grants you can just go to Fafsa.gov and check what they awarded you for 09'-10'. You would then subtract that from any assistance you have already used. like if youve taken out all of ur loan max and taken advantage of the grant you may gave gotten then theres nothing UMSL can award u. These things should be clearly defined when we are accepted bc ppl really dont know. My sister was accepted into this very program a couple yrs back but had to drop out a week before bc she had already used all of her fafsa award during the fall and spring semesters and had nothing left over. Im a worry wort so i ask alot of questions otherwise if i was just depending on the school I probably would have no idea how i would pay for the summer. I think im rambling now so ill shut up! I hope I helped tho! Cant wait to actually meet u guys!
  6. oh ok i didnt notice that about the class sizes. ill be lookin for ur PM!
  7. Hi! I have been wondering about the schedule myself. I did look online at the class times but i would have thought that the accelerated bsn students would all have the same schedule...... but idk. I do have a meeting with susan on the first for my schedule. Which classes r u planning on asking for? I would like to have the same classes with you so ill know ill have study buddy!
  8. it probably would accumulate to about 35k+ excluding all assistance and scholarships. Accelerated BSN at UMSL, prereqs at a Community college.
  9. Thanks Greg! Thats a great question! R U starting this May?
  10. I really dont think you guys can ... well not anytime soon anyway. My sister is on the EDL list and cant work anywhere in patient care for 10 years. That includes volunteering also, which is basically what you are doing when you go to clinicals. I am not 100% sure about your cases but i am sure about my sisters. (she hit a patient bac after he punched her in the face). Although she in on the deans list and was accepted into the accelerated BSN program she knew she couldnt pass the background check. She was tryin to wait the 10 years out but instead she went on to obtain a bach. in sociology. There is also an appeal process that she attempted multiple times with no success.
  11. Thanks for the advice! I really do appreciate it! I start in May @ UMSL.
  12. yea i kno what cha mean! when is your CPR class? and as far as the lunch goes, when r ur classes up here?
  13. They say ur supposed to be able to register online but when i tried last semester it wouldnt let me. But its really easy to just do it at flo. You do it in the continuing education office. which is upstairs, directly diagonal from the finanacial aid office. its like a piece of paper u fill out with ur name, A number, and the title of the class (BLS for the healthcare provider) and ur in! but u do have to go over to the cashier's office and pay for it when u register so be sure to bring the funds! Maybe we can enjoy an overpriced lunch in the student center next semester!
  14. Hey Ree! I came to the Missouri page just to find u to see whats goin on wit u! haha! i guess it was good timing! I got my certification in nov. from flo actually. i believe it was like 40 or 50 and it was fun! another classmate of ours went to her school, meremac, to get hers. we only have like 4 mths left! r u mentally ready? im getting more and more nervous as it gets closer! do u have everything else on that list done? i just gave them all my stuff on the 4th.
  15. Ree.... what HGD class r u takin? i got the online one next semester. r u just taking those two next semester? what abt jr. level college writing. Oh and i think theres a lady in my stats class that knows u. but i cant be sure bc i dont know ur real name and she couldnt remember it! n-e-ways if it was u she said u were really nice!
  16. yea Ree! I hope you get in, and i think you will because im sure someone wont have the funds, their grades will drop or someone will find another program. with all the people that applied, #3 is really high up!
  17. they take 60! the crazy thing is like 100 people applied for the early admit so it is very likely that ALL of the spaces are filled now. my counsler told me that if they have 60 qualified applicants that they WILL fill all the seats in oct. now that doesnt mean that at least 60 of us was qualified but its likely! she also told me that they usually never have this many applicants for the early admit, she said its usually like 15 or 20.
  18. YAY LACEY!!!!! Ill be posting shortly about that jr. level college writing an see who all wants to take it with me! itll probably be a night class!
  19. OMG I GOT MY LETTER TODAY! THE FIRST THING I DID WAS GET ON THE COMPUTER TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE GOT IN! I WAS SOOOO SCARED TO OPEN IT! NEWAYS I GOT IN AND IM SOOOOO HAPPPPPPYYYYY! see u in orientation white shadows! yay!
  20. Yea idk whats taking so long but my counsler said that they were really backed up with stuff, whatever that means.... Im almost happy in a way that they are late because im scared to open it! lol. Im probably gonna stare at the envolope for a good long time before i actually open it :uhoh21:. Ill be devastated if i dont get in!
  21. The suspense is killlling me! Omg why did this have to be the year they are falling behind on the decision process?????
  22. Hey i love ur screen name lol!
  23. Hey, im patiently waiting to see if i got into UMSL's accelerated BSN program myself... as to ur question im not sure i can help because i dont know the lowest gpas the schools ur intested in will accept. I really only kno about UMSL, which has a 3.5 for transfer students and a 3.2 for those already holding a degree.... I think ur best bet is to ask those schools what ur chances are. I really hope u make it! Good luck!
  24. Hey Lacey If you dont take them at UMSL where will you be completing them? Im taking every class at Flo except for that Jr. level college writing simply bc they dont offer it. In the spring Im taking Jr. level college writing, Human growth and Development, Bio-medical ethics, a capstone, and human sexuality.
  25. HEY GUYS!!!! Ive been conversing with most of u all who applied for the accelerated BSN program and In SOO excited to see all of u in class im may (hopefully of course!) we should make this the base group for what im sure will be 100% necessary study group... for those who still have to take the jr. level college writing at UMSL in the spring ill be sure to post on here as soon as the registration opens for spring. i would be great if we could all do it together! Best wishes! I see u all here when we get accepted! be sure to post it and shout it to the world.... ^^^^^wow i really am excited arent i? lol
