  1. Im sorry for my comment, I will correct my previous post, I meant to my word "those" is that "Some" american nurses tend to generalize and judge Foreign nurses.
  2. Thank you for posting this, as a Filipino Nurse, I also felt the same way. Every time a Filipino Nurse post a topic in this forum (especially Immigration related), they easily gang up upon by those so -called"American- 1st class Nurses". We always feel 2nd class to them. Generalizations and Judgemental comments are easily laid on us. Some of my colleagues have already left Allnurses Forum, but I feel the need to always come back here and defend what I believe in. Some posters here are very Insensitive to our culture. We Filipinos, consider ourselves lucky, coz sensitivity and respect to other culture is part of our lives. Thank you for posting this important issue. I hope the Administrator of this site will take notice and monitor "some" moderators who are so anti-immigrant and unwelcome!
  3. Pls read the lines correctly, in the first quote I stated if she is already an ILLEGAL, she cannot adjust status. Even with the 180 days, because there is RETROGRESSION in place. On the second quote, I didnt mention ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS, I mentioned EXTENSION OF STAY. For your Info also, pls take note, on the first page of Form I-539 of Application for extension of stay form it says: " Failure to file before the expiration date maybe excused if you demonstrate when you file the application that: 1. The delay was due to extraordinary circumstances beyond your control; 2. The length of the delay was reasonable; 3. You have not otherwise violated your status; 4. You are still a bona fide nonimmigrant; and 5. You are not in removal proceedings I understand the post didnt asked for IMMIGRATION advice, but it is elementary, it is connected to IMMIGRATION. Before you correct someones post, be sure to research it well. Comprende? Peace!
  4. You can take the Nclex in the US, but if your Tourist Visa has expired you will be out of status (illegal), and cannot adjust status in the US. You will be banned for any Immigration benefits in the future. You can apply for an extension of stay (i-539), and include your ATT. But with retrogression, there is no point of taking the Nclex in the US and adjust status, better return home, you might have a bigger chance of passing it in the Philippines with no added pressure to you.
  5. USCIS OMBUDSMAN RECOMMENDS EXPEDITING, CENTRALIZING NURSE GREEN CARD CASES http://blogs.ilw.com/gregsiskind/
  6. Retrogression or no retrogression, Filipinos will be coming to the US to work as Nurses. They are doing it the Legal way, so no ones going to stop those who wish to work in the US. Unless you tell US Hospital Recruiters to stop recruiting in the Philippines, or tell US Boards of Nursing to stop accepting foreign applicants to take the Nclex and tell US Immigration to ban Filipino Nurses in applying for greencards.. Contracts have already been signed, I-140 have been filed and approved, now they are just waiting for their Permanent Residence Visas. Sooner or later their processing dates will come. Those who have left for the US as Greencard holders will be replaced by a new batch, it only goes on and on. So whos going to stop them from coming, if they follow by the rules. Lou Dobbs? FAIR? NumbersUSA? Retrogression or no retrogression, it is not important to Filipinos. bec they can wait, unlike US counterparts,Filipinos are not rich on mortgages and credits, but rich on helping one another in times of difficulties, thats what makes us different.
  7. Me and my colleagues, totally agree with you. Post are getting strayed and totally sounding Xenophobic. No wonder some members are not visiting this site anymore.
  8. Wow! You said it, right on the Dot! Good Explanation! So, how do you find "Balut" and "Dinuguan"? :wink2:
  9. Please dont be judgemental, dont generalize. I am a nurse and for sure before I post it its not a hearsay. Ive been one of the clients of this law firm, and they helped me from where I am now. (legally)..they are respectable and frankly speaking they are the most read site with 20,000,000+ visits. I am aware the US economy is melting, but it is not the end of the world.. Healthcare is still a strong field..Ok, this is what you want to hear. " The US Economy if weakening, NO WORK FOR IMMIGRANTS! PERIOD! STAY OUT!" Now, satisfied? But I tell you, my fellow countrymen from the Philippines especially nurses, who have an average age of 25 yrs old, are able to wait 2 yrs? 5yrs? 10 yrs? what the heck, Family based greencard petitions are running for 10yrs, and they can still afford to wait! The pride of the Philippines is that they have Young Professionals, by the way whats the average age of US Nurses right now? I hope those would be American Nursing Students wont have a hard time getting a student loan, with all those bad credits.
  10. And I agree with you. Filipino Nurses are very Flexible, and very "Global",they are found in all parts of the world, working, they are considered the present day heroes in the Philippines bec of their remittances, w/c is a big help to the Philippine economy. These Filipino Nurses' average age is 25 yrs old, compared to American Nurses who have an average age of 45 - 50 yrs old. Filipino Nurses can wait 3 -5 yrs, for sure they have options, Filipino Nurses are applying to work in the Middle East, Singapore, Europe, Canada. but their final destination for sure will become a US Immigrant. Throw them those Nclex, CGFNS, English Exams, increase those immigration and application fees, they will still apply and pursue their dreams. Life is very hard in the Philippines compared to what the US is experiencing right now, if life is getting hard in the US, life in the Philippines is much harder. Since birth most of the Filipinos are living life hard. These are veterans of lifes' hardship, and are willing to face it head on. :wink2:
  11. I believe the US Economy is the priority of President-elect Obama, but we are not Economists, were Nurses, Im not here to stir a debate, I just want to share you folks this message. Here's an excerpt form http://www.immigration-law.com/ The country's top priority is set at controlling the forest fires in economy that spread wildly in the nation and throughout the world. However, economy is just a part of a whole system and the nation as a system can not achieve a progress unless other subsystems of the society move along with it and sustain the direction of economy. The nation needs a vision for the future of the nation in a comprehensive way and in this regard, we welcome the President-elect's on-going development of a comprehensive agenda to shake not just one sector but all the critical sectors in parallel to redirect our nation to the global leadership in every sectors in the world. Short-sighted view may take the immigration issues contracting the nation's need for a full attention and focus on economic recession. However, a country's economy cannot move ahead unless other critical sectors sustain such move. Economy does not stand alone. This country is built on immigration and we are country of immigrants. Continuing flow of immigrants forms a backbone and blood of the system supporting and sustaining the system unlike other countries in the world. A country's economy cannot sustain unless a fresh new blood is supplied in all sectors including high tech industry as well as the first industry. Country's culture cannot be enriched unless new talented artists, athletes, writers contiue to flow in. The strength for this nation and its sustaining leadership have been founded on such flow of new fresh bloods from all over the world. We understand that the incoming Obama administration and the new Congress will take up comprehensive immigration reform as one of the first, albeit not the top, agenda early next year. We will wait and watch how things will unfold.
