the thing is, the manager is so family that she totally understands where I am coming from but she has no pull - when it comes to stuff like that. I've had CNA's tell them (NM & ANM) that they are going to lose a good nurse because of the occurance thing.

I'm new at this facility and they have a union, you don't have a say wether or not you want to be in the union - it's automatic unless your in managment. My story - I have two small kids at home - 1 and 3 yrs. my DH works Monday - Friday 7 -5. I work part time (5x's in 2 week period) 11-7 (those hours work great) I get home and nap when my kids do. Anyways being in the union, if the facility has so many call ins and no volunteers, they mandate well each time you say no and sign -it's an occurence - after 3 occurences you will be fired! REGARDLESS - After all the time I put into orientation, schedules that were changed and my kids having to go different places for childcare I may be fired by the end of July at the rate we're going! I am so livid! I don't know what to do. DH says let them fire me - but I don't want that on my record. I'd rather quit and find a place that has no union and start all over. It sucks - i love the facility, nurse manager, patients, staff.
  3. i was taught the same way too, and with not touching any of the pills. Where I work now, they have bottles that are only one use -much better - just toss out whatever wasn;t used and know that it's no way contaminated. We had the state in just recently and they go with you when you do your med pass and that's a check if you touch the pills.
  4. how about an RN that I was working with try to get blood glucose on a deceased pt. and couldn't figure out why ????
