We give D5LR with 10 unit of pit x 3 bags running at 125/hr. I too think it is way too much. If bleeding is normal and they are drinking plenty of fluids I wish they would decrease the amount of IV fluids they give them

We pull pit, lidocaine, and mineral oil for every delivery from the omnicell. It is quite easy as it uses our fingerprint to log us in, so in an emergency, it is really easy and fast to access methergine and hemabate (which we never pull unless the Dr asks for them). And we always return all meds we don't use

At my hospital, I have had numerous unassisted deliveries. Thank goodness nothing bad has ever happened, and the babies were fine. I do try everything in my power to not let that happen, it scares the crap out of me every time.

We have it really good then, we don't have mandatory on call, we have a list that we can sign up on after the schedule comes out. While we are at home we get $6 an hour and when called in time and a half plus the $6. And we almost always get called in if we are on call. We just signed a new contract and I think they are raising the on call rate to $12 an hour. Lets just say, that I take call quit often, the pay is good and it helps out the unit

I am sorry, but unlike most of you, I am all for circumcisions. Not only did I circ my son, but I try to convience my pts to do it, if they ask my opinion. If they say they are not going to do, I don't ever mention it. Most of my pts are hispanic and they don't do. Everyone in my family is circ'd and I have only been with men that have been circ'd, and it is so much nicer to look at then an uncircumcised member. While I worked in hospital a while ago, and helped men with baths, I noticed the uncirc's men and they are very ugly, and to be honest, stunk. The smelt that they get under the foreskin smells really bad. I don't want to upset anyone, but I feel that all men should be circ's. I have seen numerous boys that had to get circ's while they were kids. My grandfather had to have it done when he was 15.

I recently started working in Santa Barabara county and was previously working in Los Angeles. I make about $30 and hour. I think that San Diego has similar wages. I have 1 year expierence in L & D

I feel really lucky. In the 2 L&D jobs I have had, you don't have to be on call at all. They post the days and times where the nurse census is low and you sign up to be on call yourself, but you are not obligated to do so. I don't that I could work somewhere that I would have to work full time and then give extra days to be on call!
