I am in my third semester of the RN program at Brookhaven College. I can highly recommend that. I did a paralegal degree at El Centro. I did not like the facilities, but that was when they were building all the new buildings

Both Ames and Stephenson are good. I had Ames for Pharm and Stephenson for 2nd semester (Common Concepts). Just read the books before the lecture and after. Realize that all becomes clear the further we get along in clinicals. Really!

As a gay male, I was surprised that there were not more gay men in school. Someone who is gay and working on his PhD in nursing said that his theory on this is that nursing as a career for men has become more mainstream, so more straight men are coming in. In my class of 40, there are 7 men. 3 of us are gay. Practicing bed baths today, the young woman I was working with said she was relieved to know that I am gay!

At 60, I am way over 35 and I applied for a loan directly from Sallie Mae. My credit stinks, so I have a cosigner. I went through pre-nursing at Brookhaven College last year (2007), with a 4.0 average. I am in my first semester of the nursing program at Brokhaven. I am starting to recieve my pension from many years as an Episcopal priest, but it is nowhere nearly enough to live on, let alone pay for tuition and books.
