I agree, it should be a privelage to be in nursing, and not a right. I'm currently a student, and had to have the appropriate qualifications and experience to gain access to my course, and at no point did I think along the lines of "ah it's only nursing, you shouldn't have to try to get in". Of course you should have to try, as if you really want to make it, you will put the required work in! Having said that, I don't think it should be so hard as to put people off their career choices. Perhaps this girl is applying for one of the more desired universities, and would have a better chance elsewhere?

Personally, I don't think I look young for my age (25), but when i'm on my clinical placements, the staff and patients disagree with me...it seems the older the person, the younger they estimate my age to be. I was once taking the observations of an elderly lady, when she said to me, "it's nice that you young teenagers are helping in here, rather than hanging around on street corners". I've no idea what she was thinking, but just agreed with her and was on my way! :imbar
