I hate nursing
I had a friend, fresh out of school 22 years old became a peds onc nurse. She loved it. 2 years later- completely burned out. So she took some time off of floor nursing and works for an insurance company. She sets her own hours, and locations... goes to about 5 homes a day, which in turn only works 7 hours a day, makes great money and likes that her nursing life has slowed down a bit.

Drug memorization
I'm in the same boat, we need to memorize up to 40 drugs for each exam spaning for about 4-5 units. And we can get tested on any of them, some exmas only have one question about the action and others have 10 questions. And there is no way of knowing which ones they will ask and how in depth they will be.

What are the item(s) you need most for nursing school?
~ lotts of hand lotion! (your hands getso dry from all the hand washing) ~ I took the advise of someone on here and getting all my books debinded and 3 hole punched, i even did this w/some of my nclex review books, one 3 inch 3 ring binder hold everyhting i need for each unit durring the semester, i throw it into a large binder and then for finals everything is in order in one BIG binder. ~ Typing up my notes and using color on txt for definitions, quotes.... helps a ton ~ flashcard exchange and print them out instead of hand writting flash cards (plus you can put it on the PDA) ~ A very understanding and supportive boyfriend ~ facials every 3 months- theres a spa near my house, a little pricy but very nice and relaxing, they even do an upper body massage while everything is going on on your face. nice 2 to 3 hour relaxation time ( i try to do one before an exam or finals!

It's 4am, do you know where your patient is?
1. 4 miles down the road at a closed gas station, in gown (butt hanging out) and barefoot.... in the SNOW! 2. somehow out of posey and 4 pt restraints trying to beat us up with his walker. 3. taking out the garbage out of every room on the floor (42 bed floor) 4. snuck a bottle of vodka onto the floor, and looking for a drinking budy- found a 80 yr old recovering alcoholic woman who wanted a lil more than just a shot from him if you know what i mean

Please Help!!!!
I know there are several posts about this, but they are from a while ago and I still haven't found a good answer. I am starting my second semester of nursing and need a really good stethoscope for the rest of my clinicals/rotations. I am very hard of hearing and have practiced numerouse nurses scopes on the cardiac med/surg floor that i work on, and still can not read blood pressures. I am willing to spend money. Is an electronic one a good idea? in the spring i will be doing my rotations and will need something for peds and neo, so should i get one thats veritile, or get a cheaper one when the time comes for that? please please please help me. thank you so much!

nails
I would always get hang nails that get infected to the point wherei would have to change a band aide after everytime i wash my hands. I read up on the new LCN's (light concept nails) and love em, no chipping or cracking, get them done every three weeks, and i pay a little extra for the pink and whites so i always have a clean french. Since its a gel there is no chipping of paint. They are more expensive than acrylics, but it hink they are worth it. I haven't had an issue yet with school, last smester my prof was releived b/c i didn't have infections on my hands anymore.
