Which agencies are the best?
I have been a nurse for 24 years and have worked as a staff nurse in a variety of areas, both in hospitals and physician's offices. I had been a nurse for 5 years before I did agency. I think that you need to work for one year before you can do agency because you have to develop nursing assessment and procedure skills, like IV's, foleys, NG's etc. first.

They called the cops!
This nurse never changed the schedule or told anybody about her plans. Apparently, she decided on this impromptu trip at the last minute, after she had left work. She did not even tell the nurse manager, who was her friend. That is the one who decided to call the police.

I'm in pre-nursing and have a daughter with CF
Having worked as a CF Nurse Coordinator, I can appreciate your frustrations with caring for a child with CF. I highly recommend that you get a copy of the book "Cystic Fibrosis Medical Care' and another book about CF (can't remember title), written for parents and patients, by Dr. David Orenstein. You can get the books from Amazon.com. Dr. Orenstein is well-renowned in the field of CF. His books are easy to read and understand. I think you will find a lot of answers to your questions. This way you will be educated and be able to be more proactive in your child's care. Good Luck.

Which agencies are the best?
I work for Medix in the Chicagoland area and the staff has been wonderful. They work hard to find the type of work you want and don't pressure you into taking a shift that you do not want to work. I have worked with other agencies and I like them the best.

They called the cops!
I had a co-worker, one time, was a no call, no-show. We knew she had a rocky relationship with her live-in boyfriend. Multiple calls throughout the shift went unanswered. Finally, we did have the cops go to her home. There had been a snowfall during that night and there was one set of tire tracks in her driveway when the cops got there but no car. It took 3 days of trying to find her before she returned home, only to find out that she went away with a friend and didn't bother to tell anyone. In this case, we were upset with her because we thought the worst had happened and it turned out that she was acting irresponsible. But, we had no regret calling the police because we were worried.:paw:
