  1. How about getting a job as an ED tech? You don't have to be licensed, and it would give you exposure to the emergency department.
  2. I know it is hard, but don't give up. I applied to 8 programs before getting accepted at SJSU. The good things about this school are they take 85 students each time (compared with about 50 at other schools) and they have a fall and spring start. I suggest you apply for spring semester.
  3. I have not seen it, but after clicking on the link, I would really like to.
  4. There are some schools that have a direct entry master's program for students with a bachelor's in another field.
  5. "Now, for the traditional BSN students, I feel that giving them some busy work is ok, because they've never been in college before, and need to "pay their dues", so to speak. They have lots of time to do the busy work and do well in school. It is very frustrating to have to go through all the stuff that maybe a freshman straight out of highschool may benefit from, but not for grown adults who have already paid our dues on busy work." What makes you think that all traditional BSN students are freshmen straight out of h.s. that have never been to college before with lots of time? Many nursing students have been to college before. Many are not straight out of h.s. Many do not have lots of time. Many have jobs and families.
  6. It seems like you have a good chance. That is a great score for the TEAS and high GPA. I also didn't have health care experience or a second language. San Jose didn't require either of those. It is funny how even though both schools are in the CSU system, they have different criteria for the applications. Good luck!!
  7. Good luck! CSUS is a competitive program to apply to. I applied to CSUS fall '06 and spring '07. Both times I was somewhere around #70 on the alternate list. I did however, get accepted to San Jose State this spring (with the same grades). So if you don't make it, consider trying other programs.
  8. My school required a & p as prerequisites. I do not think I would understand what was going on in my nursing classes without this background. Nursing classes are going to talk about the body. It may be hard for you to keep up if you don't know terminology and have a basic understanding of how the body systems work. But since your school does not require prerequistes, it's possible you'll be able to do it. I am just saying for me, the things I learned it anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and chemistry have all come up in my nursing classes, and I am only in my first semester.
  9. Go for the BSN. I am in a BSN program now. At my school, you can get your CNA and LVN as you go through the RN program. So you can work as a CNA, then LVN while you are going through the program to get your RN. Try to apply for financial aid to help out while you're in school. Even if you only qualify to take out loans, you know you will be able to pay them off once you graduate and make the salary of an RN.
