Burlington County College Spring 2016
They must be going through applications now because they called me today and requested a copy of my high school transcript. Are there really only 3 of us that applied to this program on here?

Burlington County College Spring 2016
I applied for spring too. Looking at the other spring threads it looks like people got their letters the first two weeks of October. I don't know what to do with my time until then besides stalk these forums lol. All my classes are done as well, I'll take the med class in January. Good luck, hope we both get in!!!

Admitted Burlington County College for Spring 2014
I thought I would ask this question here since you guys have been admitted to the program. I know the minimum score for the Teas to be accepted into the program is 60% but do you know anyone who has been admitted with a score of 60-70%? I'm preparing for my teas next month and aiming for a minimum of 80% but just wondering, with all of the people applying is 70% even competitive enough?

Thanks for the link. Looks like there are plenty of choices just have to narrow it down to the ones that are closest.

Moving to Georgia, RN programs??
I may be moving to Georgia in the next 6months-1yr. All of my pre-reqs will be completed this fall, except for Micro. Hoping all of my credits transfer. I'm looking for ASN programs near Cumming, Georgia. Also, are tech schools in Ga looked at differently in Ga than in NJ? What I mean is, I'm not aware of any tech schools in NJ that you can get a degree from, only certificates or lpn. Some of them aren't even accredited. So I was surprised to read in Ga you can get an associates at Gwinnett Tech. Thanks

NJ starting rn salary..
I'm a nurses aid at Capital Health in Trenton, working on my rn. One of my friends graduated a little over a year ago and was hired to work on the telemetry floor for $21/hr day shift. I was really shocked to hear that considering one of the Techs makes $20/hr(because she has her lpn). Anyway he just switched to the ER and got an $8 raise. Another friend at the hospital is with an agency. She said she worked for a year before the agency hired her. She was started at $45/hr at the agency she said the best part is she makes her own schedule and never works weekends.......that is my goal lol no weekends

BCIT FT December 1 Students
The school does not have a code because they can not accept loan payments. If you need a loan in will have to be a personal loan with a check made to you. You can then deposit it and write the school a personal check from you or give cash. It is a good price considering Lincoln tech was gonna charge me around $20000 and that was with federal loans and grants. Good luck!!!

Pay for hospital nursing assistants thanks!
I am not a cnA I went to school to be a tech. After 7 months of applying and getting no interviews I started applying for anything in a hospital to get a foot in the door. I was offered a nurse aid job in Trenton nj $ 12.02/hr with paid benefits. During orientation which was 1 week of listening to people of every department speak, another week of patient care class there were nurse aids and technicians. I learned that one of the technicians came from housekeeping and the other from escort. I was a little aggravated that I paid $2500 for a tech cert. and they wouldn't hire me but they would hire someone from within the hospital and train them. Oh well at least I have a job! And in 6 months I can transfer to a tech position and I will get paid a higher rate since I had training!

What you'd REALLY like to say....
To the man who came into the ER after drinking a gallon of Bacardi: Please stop asking me if I can take your wrist restraints off! You may feel that you are of no harm to yourself but the fact that you ripped the hand sanitizer dispenser off the wall and drank the Purell may have your doctors feeling differently. To the lovely confused lady: your painting on the floor was lovely but next time please use paint instead of poo!

Phlebotomy (not sure where to post)
Hi, I am not a phlebotomist, but I just finished up my clinicals for phlebotomy as part of a multi skilled tech course. My phlebotomy part of the class is finished and next month when I finish the nursing part I can get a job as a phlebotomist lol. So not sure if I can help but I can try!

Adding Phlebotomy to CNA
I am not a cna, I am currently in a MST program (same as PCT just different name). I believe every state and hospital will vary on pay, certifications, etc. but here's what I can tell you from my class. As far as pay I was told from my mother who is a home health aid for 16 years with Virtua that cna's start at $11-$12 depending on experience in a hospital. One of my classmates is a tech (not a cna, no phlebotomy, ekg) at Virtua and said his co-workers who are MST were hired at $14/hr with no experience, after 90 days got a raise up to $16/hr. He recently met an MST who has been there 2 years and is making $22/hr. You really have to check with hospitals in your area, because I heard of cna's in other states starting at only $8/hr so I imagine a PCT position would start lower as well. My phlebotomy teacher has been a phlebotomist for 30 years and has never been certified. When we asked she said we are welcome to go online and pay to take the certification but that we will have no problem finding a job without one. She said there will be hospitals with certain positions that will require it but not many in our area. I plan on getting a job in a hospital, and going to rn school. I think it will be great to have all that experience, especially with phlebotomy. You will be able to work on your venipunture technique and by the time you get to IV's in rn school it should be a breeze lol. Not sure on EKG certification!

LPN at Lincoln Tech Vs. BCIT 2010
Congrats Ms. Holman!!!! You are right, it is what you make of it!! I guess from speaking to people from RN programs at Lourdes and Helene Fuld and St. Francis, they all seemed so formal, professional, strict when it came to grades and what was required by the students. Then going into LT it was a laid back atmosphere, the staff did not talk to you like they were a professor but like they were your next door neighbor and seeing prospective students wearing belly shirts and thigh high boots made me think what they heck is going on here lol. But as for the actual education I have no idea. I am actually in a multi skilled technician program right now, it's a 3 month course I start my phlebotomy clinicals next week, can't wait. There are a lot of hospitals hiring for this position so I'm hoping I will have a job in 2 months and then have them pay for my RN! Good luck to all of you lpn's!!!

pct/nurse tech wages
I just started a MST (multi-skilled technician) same as pct in NJ. Hospital starts newbies at $14/hr. Heard from hospital employees that some MST's with a couple years experience are up to $18!!!!!

Any MST multi-skilled technicians out there?
:yeah:I am about to start a multi-skilled technician program next month. My plan is to take the course, get a job at a hospital, finish up a couple pre-reqs while applying for rn school in nj. Just wondering if anyone can let me know the difference between a cna and an mst, besides pay? I know mst's can do ekg's and blood draws but what else? Also, what other names would I find a job under? Is the patient care technician and patient care associate a cna or mst? Thanks in advance for responses!!

LPN or ASN
Happy to say I made it into the MST program at CCC! Classes start next month can't wait to finish and start working in a hospital, gain some experience while finishing up my pre-reqs, then start rn school. I wish there was an MST forum like this one lol!!! I guess it's pretty much a cna with a few extra skills. I talked to a friend who is a nursing supervisor and she said she feels the same way about not wanting to work in an ltc and do the repetitive work. She said her MST's can do anything from paperwork, ekg's, blood draws, emptying foleys, running all over the hospital for fluids etc., she said it's different everyday! Sounds good to me.

LPN at Lincoln Tech Vs. BCIT 2010
I'm not going there but when I did the financial aid I got $10,000 in grants(free money) and $16000 in student loans (to be paid back over 10 years starting 6 months after graduation) and had $400 left over that I would have to pay by the first day of class! Everyone's situation is different though.

Help, I have to make a quick decision on which school!!!
Thanks but I've actually decided to take a 3 month multi skilled techinician program over the summer. It's only 3 days a week so I can still work or have time off to spend with my kids. I was really dissapointed when I found out about BCIT but the more I think about it, it may have been a blessing in disguise! I never really wanted to work in a ltc and that's mostly what lpn's do. I was just wanted to start my nursing career asap. But with the mst I can get a job in a hospital, starting at $14/hr not great but enough so I can finish up my pre reqs for my rn! Good luck to you on finding another program!

It didn't sound like it because he said if you are still interested they are keeping the night class for 2011! They may have called me because I was supposed to go to an interview the next day and he said since we aren't having classes there is no point of you coming in for an interview.

LPN or ASN
Good I think I'm going to go to Camden county college. I have to get a 2 step PPD test that takes two weeks to do so hopefully the class won't be filled by then but who knows. They only take 16 students and they already have 5 and registration has been open for 1 week so it may be close!

LPN or ASN
Thanks that's good to know, I'm gonna call in the morning to find out about ccc mst program that starts in May and if I don't get in there I will check the technical school for sept!

LPN or ASN
Wow, I just got done looking at Camden County College's summer brochure for the MST program. I just found out today that BCIT canceled their May lpn class that I was supposed to start. Now I'm like what do I do? I don't want to have $16000 in loans from Lincoln tech for my lpn when like you said I could get my mst, work in a hospital and then go for my rn and get financial aid. I don't know how much MST's make but at least I would have a job in a hospital that may even pay for my education. I just have no patience and want to be an rn now lol!!! I have 26 college credits and 4 more pre-req classes to take but I keep getting wait listed.

PTYME did you get the call yet that they are cancelling the day classes this year because of the budget cuts? I got mine today and now don't know where to go unless I start the June class at Lincoln Tech, ughhhh this sucks.
