  1. You have to take the prerequisites listed. You can apply in the semester you're taking your last prerequisite. You have to present a letter from your job stating the hours you work to get into the evening/weekend program. It's only for people who work. You have to take the HESI exam which consist of math, reading comprehension, anatomy and physiology, and critical thinking, which is a mini NCLEX exam. I'm in 1st semester, fundamentals. The clinical is @ Woodhull Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. There is also a nursing home rotarion. I don't know what hospital the other semesters and sections go to. Regardless what semester or section, it is a lot of reading. The main text book is 50 chapters and 1397 pages. This is just fundamentals. I don't care how well intentioned the professor, they won't be able to teach you everything you need to know in 6 hours/week. You will have to do the reading. I think that applies no matter what school you attend.
  2. I'm in the evening/weekend program at BMCC. I work Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm and attend classes Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:45 to 9:15 pm. Clinical is either Saturday or Sunday 8am to 4pm.
  3. I took them 5 years ago at Hostos CC and at the time they had a class that helped me prepare for them. I suggest you get a GED, ACT, or SAT math book. Those will definitely help. Also you might find the information below helpful. 4. So far I like my math teacher. He got bad ratings on ratemyprofessors.com but I dont have any problem with him. As for the school I have the same problems you mentioned. Its hard to get information. They gave me the run around during the registration process. For example, I went to the asdmisions office and thought I had provided all the information, but when I logged on to the system I saw that i needed to bring other things in. If I had not logged on and looked I would think everything was complete. If you decide to go there you have to be proactive. Don't wait for them to tell you things. They offer 5 of the pre-reqs on line: both psychology classes, sociology, speech, and english 2. I do work full time and I don't live in Queens.
  5. Hi Redfalcon518 I just started taking my pre-reqs there. Follow this link and hopefully it will take you to where you can apply online. https://portal.cuny.edu/cms/id/cuny/documents/informationpage/006373.htm . I went through the same process. you have to apply now if you want to get in for the summer or fall. I have 3 more classes to take before i can apply to the program. you have to take your pre-reqs or at least be taking the last ones before you can apply. You then apply, take an entrance exam (NLN) and then they will accept you based on your GPA and exam score. as far as finances, I am taking math 104 which is a 3 credit course and the total cost is $506. hope this helps
  6. My orientation is on the first day of class, which is September 14. Can't wait to see what it's all about.
  7. I am a single mother of two (6 and 10). Thank god my school has a child care program. I take them to school with me, drop them off at the childcare center and go to class. I dont think I would have gotten as far as I have without that.
  8. Congratulations! and good luck
  9. I will definitely retire as a nurse. I can't see myself doing anything else. The only thing i will try to do is climb to the top.
