If your goal is anesthesia (I've recently been accepted to Barry)...my 2 cents....study hard and make good grades, work in a cardiac icu or cardiac surgical unit if you can and pick up some overtime ever so often in another icu to vary critical experience. CSU is really going to help with hemo-dynamics. While getting your year of acute care experience take GRE. If your end goal is to become a Crna you need to be in an ICU with sick pts to be competitive for school admissions. Working in OR, ER, L&D likely won't cut it for most programs. You don't have to hv ccrn but it will make you more competitive.

Hello all. I'm interviewing in Aug for Jan 2012. If accepted, God willing, I plan to choose the Orlando campus. A buddy of mine I work with has chosen Orlando. Another coworker chose Gainsville.

Not sure...but make sure you will def., 100%, have the job before moving. Most hospitals in Tampa area are not hiring unless you've had a few years experience. I know for graduate nurses it's low 20's/hour. Good luck! :)

I've recently moved to FL with my family from CA. Graduated from Loma Linda Univ. with BSN, have a few months experience as an RN in the CT-ICU. I have ACLS as well as hospital training for EKG interpretation. I'm still considered a new grad because I haven't had enough experience. So I applied to the VA in Tampa, Bay Pines, Florida Hospital in Orlando, and with the Baycare Health System in Tampa, all for graduate nurse internship positions. I thought the little experience I had would put me towards the top of the list, but man was I wrong. All have told me they "acknowledge my achievements but are unable to offer me the position at this time!" haha I'm not sure what's going on, but it's definately hard/nearly impossible to get a new grad job in tampa or orlando area. Any ideas from someone who's had similar experiences?

I had to wait about 1.5 months before I found out my results. I ended up calling the BRN in Sacramento. They told me my school never sent off the transcripts!! So I talked with the lady more and she told me I passed. My name showed up on the website about a week later.

I took boards in february(2 mos. ago) in California. I had 265 questions and passed....but didn't really review much. I took Kaplan and it helped with getting in the right mindset of how to test. I had alot of priority questions, and several multiple multiples.

Southern California, CT-ICU, as a new grad. starting at $27.79/hour working days...$3000 sign on bonus for 2 year commitment. (Working over time and weekends you could earn close to $40/hr) FYI....this is on the low end of wages for SoCal. Keep in mind that cost of living is higher here than most other places.
