  1. Wish that would work in our facility--too much of a time waste
  2. We have been doing this for some time at our facility. We have several of us that do this and our nurses are the trained staff nurses and managers in our Critical Care Units. We have a designated phone that receives calls and whom ever is on call responds. If for some reason that nurse can not go due to her assignment--the charge nurse, another co-worker or our manager will go for us. It works well for the most part. But the nurse takes a routine assignment. Cindy
  3. We do this daily with the intensivist and it works well. We do use a form and other info==fasthug==food, analgesia, sedation. thrombolitics, head up, ucler prevention, glucose. We also look at their labs, antibiotics, meds, social and dischage plans. We include pharmacy, social services, case management, pastorial care, and dietary in these rounds--weekends get a little more lax--but we still do them. It really speeds up recovery and ICU time. Cindy United Regional in Wichita Falls, Texas
  4. I have done them on ages 20-90==all sorts of medical issues.
  5. Nipride gtt in our facility requries an a-line--we only do those in our units--for obvious safety and manufacturers' recommendations. Cardene is also only used in our units--safety reasons only--and it usually works in just a few minutes. Hope this helps
  6. Try Cardene--seems to work much better --our preferred drug at our facility. Cindy
  7. How do you reduce your noise level in ICU--especially at night? Cindy
  8. Our hosptial has a week long celebration--includes large cool-hot bags with mug for gift day, 2 days for days and nights of grilled chicken breast sandwiches and all of the trimmings--with games and competitions of all sorts--and the traditional blessing of the hands, competitions with prizes for decorated doors and poster projects that can help the hospital and community with nice prizes, a golof tourney and to top it off--this year, we received a bonus check--(not usually typical--but the rest is). We also have an awards and recognition formal dinner for milestone anniversaries for length worked at the hospital Go Wichita Falls, Texas

I am looking for a sight that I can download some patient and family handouts re expectations of ICU and patient, family info re procedures and Dx. Any info would be appreciated.
  10. I am looking for clinical pathways or care plans. Does anyone have a sight that I could look at and download these? It would be expecially beneficial if they could be used for pt. with many problems or co-morbidities. Thanks Cynthia
