  1. Congrats!I'm in the same boat as you. Once I passed boards I've accepted an OR position. Be prepared to have some people being a little snarky with you. Youll hear all about how you should have spent X years in med surg (like they had to) or ICU(like someone told them to) before entering practice. I am not one to discount the importance of good nursing skills, but lets face it. If it is something you truly have a passion for, know its for you, and know youll be wonderful at it, then why the hell not!?! Let all of them choke on their sour grapes!Good Luck!
  2. Wish i had positive info to share, but I have a friend who hates it there. She would leave ASAP but she got some friends on board and would forfeit her bonus if she left.
  3. I'm in my psych rotation now. Honestly, I don't see the use. It seems MHW and PCTs are doing most of the down and dirty one to one care. As a nurse, you get the theory but the only REAL purpose you seem to serve is handing out meds and writing care plans. I am SO disillusioned with the RN role in psych! I thought this would be where nurses could really use all the psychosocial tools at their disposal to make a difference. Instead we are victims of managed care. Please do NOT misinterpret this as a slight against MHW or PCTs. They are amazing at what they do, I just wish WE could have a more meaty role in care. Liam
  4. Well put! In addition, I think of this as the "Golden Age" for new grads. The need is so great we have the pick of the litter out there!
