  1. i think it is funny how this thread changed. in my experience as an rn (5 years). i have never experienced a successful code, however i have only had 3 codes in 5 years. however you also must take into consideration that i come from a very small town (800 ppl), we have a 2 bed er and an 8 bed hospital. our closest trauma center is 150 miles away, so we just stabilize and transfer for the most part. we study acls a lot and we practice with mock codes all of the time just because we don't deal with this all of the time. there are sometimes we go for days or weeks without an er patient. it is important to remember that not everyone has a trauma team or code team when the time comes. w have an lpn that is it (he/she comes down the hall from the nursing home that is attached to the hospital to help out if need be.).
  2. I would never marry a doc, who would want to put up with that ego 24/7.A dentist might be a way better catch.
  3. OK but how do you differentiate pay from a nurse with 1 year experience and a nurse with 20 years experience?
  4. i was curious if you could give me some ideas on how you figure rate of pay for an rn new hire. our current way has been to give the base rate plus 1% per year of nursing experience. our board of directors doesn't feel this is the way to do it, but they don't have any other options so they are waiting for us to come up with other ideas. i need some help from all of you. please and thank you.
