  1. My only experience is 2 C-sections 11 mos apart. #1 D/T ecampsia #2 D/T delivery of twins I never experienced vag delivery, so no basis of comparison? Honestly, I didn't find C-sections that bad...really. My advise to expectant moms has always been NEVER listen to war stories from "experienced moms". Often these tales GROW with each repition! My comment to people who speak with new moms, for God's sake...you will not be cannonized so think before your mouth engages. I wish you a wonderful birth experience!!
  2. When returning from a LOA, I agreed to return in a non-floor capacity. After 2 weeks of "we really need you to take a floor assignment today", I arrived to find that we were staffed with an extra nurse. I was assigned to floor duty & the other ns was given the job that I'd agreed to return for. Before accepting report...I went to speak with the only dept head. When she refused to change duties or even call the DON or ADON R/T this. I told them I was through here & left 45 min after I'd punched in. I am glad that I refused report....I could care less about their no rehire policy. Now, I am considering a whole new direction. Retail at a craft store could be a nice break, till can find where I want to take my career. PS The place I worked has such a bad reputation, that future employers need no explanation. I learned this when I'd left ther once before(I'd returned to a totally new management team) Best wishes to you!
  3. Luckily, i've never had a pt directly ask me. If it did happen, I'd explore why that was their choice & work from there. I have advised several people of their rights to refuse tx...usually not in the health care setting. One of my favorite posessions is my advance directives...reviewed & updated /p the Fla nightmare! My update includes the sentance, "the ONLY tube to be used in my care is a straw!!" :Melody: dharma143
  4. i've taken SSRIs for a couple of decades. i've worked PM shift & flourished on midnoc!!! may be worth a try?? a sun or full-spectrum light is great! i have had a hard time d/t the weight gain issues...but stick /c it considering the alternative???? best of life to you!
  5. much like ursula....... i live about 300' from work. but do i walk? no, no, no! that would be too healthy of an activity & besides where would i leave my purse???? sometimes, for lunch i drive & sing to the radio for 10 min to anywhere & 10 minutes back to hello.......lunch goes fast & it's my favorite part of the day! dharma:cool:
  6. like there aren't too few nurses already- let a couple psychos harm any before they see what a bad idea this is?? more common than that would be for general public to contact a ns of their loved-one for "off the record" info.....i don't think so. i live/work in a small town & this wouldn't matter. i'm also a volunteer ems person & the whole town knows where i live. i sure don't want to see another nurse hurt!!! we nurses have enough challenges as it is................. dharma
  7. the worst for me are spiders that find their way into the ltc that i work in. there haven't been many & that's why i'm still there!!!
