International Nursing NGOs
Will do that. Although I already have 10 years of experience in working with communities and functioning on my own in remote areas. But i guess it's different when you work as a nurse. Thanks.

Did anyone hate nursing school?
I went through 3 years of nursing school (It's my second course) with a full time job and a family. Did I hated it? Nope. I hated some CIs, I hated some school policies, but nursing school was OK. But I won't go through it again. I'm happy and relieved it's finally over and I've got my degree. That's 3 years of exhaustion and chronic headache. Hang in there and focus on that light at the end of the tunnel. That's what I did too.

International Nursing NGOs
I'm recent graduate and still has to take my board. MSF needs 2 and IMC requires 3 years of professional experience. Not a blue moon's chance for me... :)

H1B visas
Thanks for that. I did some reading on H1b due to your posts in the Philippines section. It's sad that the Visa was exploited by unscrupulous companies for profit. Anyways, it's over now for nurses as you've said. :)

International Nursing NGOs
Hi! I'm surfing for international nursing NGOs, similar to MSF, with presence in conflict areas worldwide. Does anybody knows some?

Help Act On Immigration Reform!, Read and help resolve retrogression
Interesting discussion. I've recently graduated from nursing, my second course. Yes, my primary motivation for becoming a nurse is a better future for my family. If anybody question's that motivation, I urge you to delve into your past and take a good look. on working in the US.... After going through 3 hellish years (sorry but but I was working full time in a demanding job and feeding a family while studying nursing) I don't feel like anybody owes me a living. I don't view working in America as a right, nor is it a gift and privilege, but a most welcome opportunity. Becoming an American citizen is a privilege and along with it comes GREAT responsibility but that's another story. I'm sorry if some of my countrymen gave you the wrong impression. on that bill... I know where I stand and there's nothing I can do about that bill except wait. In nursing school, I learned to do everything the proper way, my CIs saw to it. :) Thanks for clearing up that HB1 thing. on the poor quality of recent nursing graduates... Sad but true. Nursing education in the Philippines has become big business and everybody is trying to get a slice of the pie. I've never encountered a 15:1 student nurses-patient ratio but I've been in situations where there were 2 of us assigned to a patient. But more common is 1:1. The most number patients assigned to my care was 6. It's really up to the student if he wants to learn or not. Know what? I'm beginning to like this forum already. Lot's of learning opportunities here. Can somebody do something about these smilies to the right? They extend into the sponsors column. Or is it my browser? I'm on FF. Thanks everybody.

New RN at 40, needs help for experience or training
Thanks for the tip. Nursing will be my second carrier and I've only graduated last March. To Ratio Nale, if you can volunteer full-time, I've heard that the DOH is accepting 6-mos volunteers. With the current dearth of nurses in our government hospitals, I don't think they'll turn down anybody because of age.
