want to transfer to L&D from orthopedics
Hi, I recently starting working on an orthopedics unit in a local hospital after being away from nursing for 18 months. I really don't think this is the unit for me and really feel drawn to women's health, especially L&D. My previous nursing experience includes mostly med/surg, although I spent a couple of months working on an obstetrics unit. I am nervous about talking to my manager about my desire to apply for a transfer. Thanks! Any advice would be appreciated.

Common Interview questions for Ortho
I hope this reply isn't too late! I went on an ortho interview yesterday. I told them upfront that I didn't have any ortho experience (I have worked med/surg). The questions were pretty standard: 1. Name three words that describe you best. 2. What is a strength/weakness. 3. How would you handle an angry family member? 4. What would you do if a supervisor asked you to do something unethical? These are all the questions I can remember, but hopefully it gives you an idea. They did not ask me any specific ortho questions and I made it clear that I was willing to learn. I was offered the position, so I guess I did ok. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!

Need Advice About Hh Job
Need advice about a HH job Hi, I have been out of the nursing field for about a year. Before that I worked on a medical-surgical unit at a hospital for a little over a year. I absolutely hated it. Now I have the opportunity to do home health nursing. I have a job right now that I like; it's not as challenging as nursing and sometimes I miss nursing. The agency pay is good, I would be making about 38% more than my current job plus mileage and cell phone reimbursement. The biggest drawback to me is the on-call stuff. I would have to be on-call one night a week and work one weekend a month, or maybe a little more. They also do rotating minimal staffing for holidays. Is this schedule normal? Also is it possible to see 6 patients in an 8 hour day? That is what this agency expects. Any advice would be appreciated!!!
