Dialysis job while On Probation with the PA DMP
I am nurse and will always be a nurse so I can relate to your fire to regain your profession. Your disciplinary actions will ALWAYS be tied to your license. Its public records but let me assure you, you are not the first nurse with disciplinary actions and you won't be the last. I have been gainfully employed for 5 years as a Nurse supervisor, I started this job when I was on probation and was in a bedside position. Since then I have advanced every year and now I am in management which I love. I thank God everyday for this job and the opportunities I've had to excel. My "mistakes" have made me a better nurse and a better human being. I can relate better to people, I can understand their shortcomings without judgement because I have now walked in their shoes. You will be on Nurse's databank I'm not sure what your career aspirations are so not sure how this will affect your career. Personally I was ok with being an RN with an associates degree but after my disciplinary actions I decided it would be in my best interest to advance my degree so I would have more options. I'm currently in pursuit of my Master's. I hope this helpful to you.

Dialysis job while On Probation with the PA DMP
Yes, I did find a job while on probation. But IT WAS HARD, I had many many many NOs before a yes. My probation was successfully completed last year with the Board. All I can tell you is that it will be difficult but its not impossible. Good luck to you!

Worried my nursing career might be over...
I can totally relate. I am an RN with a misdemeanor and I was with a week of having a job. I too was honest and up front and 3 days before my start date they rescinded the offer. I feel very broken but am determined that someone out there will give us RNs a second chance. I hope thing have been better for you since this post

Hey it all sounds positive, anytime you get an interview you get an opportunity. And the fact that the recruiters were aware of your program and didn't appear to have an issue with it is even better. I will keep you in my prayers. It gives us all hope. In fact Im in a hopeful space again. Davita rescinded their job offer at 1030 a.m. At 5 pm I had a call from a company that I had submitted a resume to, 2 months before and I have an upcoming interview. What a difference a few hours make..Keep us posted and I will do the same

Any legit job websites?
Yeah, I was kinda bummed. But now I'm feeling like in the big scheme of things it wasn't meant for me or else GOD or the Universe (whatever you want to call it) would have made it so. I did read the forum on Davita and I was very concerned but was in such a place of I need a job etc I was just wishing the best. But to the drawing board. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Pleas let me know how the interview went Good luck! Love you all as well. Stay strong

Any legit job websites?
Update: Received an email from DaVita's Welcome village informing me I was ineligible for hire because of my probation status. They the fact that "I can't supervise PCT's or need constant monitoring" was the issue. I spoke to my BRN probation monitor and clarified with her and she said...yes you can supervise PCT's LVN, CNA's and as far as being monitoed I do not need shoulder to shoulder monitoring just need to know there is another RN in the work area. When I call back and informed her of this she became irritated and said DaVita has a policy that they are not dealing with nurses on probation though they already have several nurses on probation in the organization(they started this in the last 6 months). She also said there are enough RN's out there where we don't have to deal with this. WOW amazing. To say the least I'm very disappointed and back to drawing board. I feel so frustrated. Will anyone ever give us nurses on probation a second chance??

Help! Trouble finding a job with my license being on probation!!!!
I'm curious if you have found gainful employment yet. I too have a license on probation and it has been a difficult process with no luck of employment yet. The economy hasn't helped either but I remain hopeful.

Update: Last Thursday received a call from the DaVita Regional manager in my area. He wanted me to explain of the results my background check which I did with complete honesty. He says he still willing to go forward but we have await word form corporate in Colorado so I will keep you all posted. I should have word any day until then I am in struggle mode of truly "Let go, Let God" Its very tough but its the only thing I can do now. I hate limbo land. More to follow...

Finally...A job!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm in agreement with everyone else. YOU ARE NOT bragging you are giving us all hope that there are jobs out there and there are people who will listen with an open heart and mind and give us a "second" chance. God does have a plan. I have been searching for about a year(license on probation w/ a misdemeanor charge) and it has been frustrating and often I feel like i'm at the end of my rope but when I read about others success, it gives me a little more strength to carry on. I'm currently holding my breath now on a job offer. I have been offered a position with good pay and benefits and a chance to enter a new field. But I have to await approval from the big HR GOD and hope someone gives me a chance.

MizchelleRN: I was bit freaked yesterday but today I woke with a sense of calm. I truly let go and let God. I have done all I can do. I did the interview-impressed my ass off. I was upfront and honest and SINCERE. Now I have to quit worrying and release it. My case was a felony as well but I went to court and had it reduced. The funny part is now when they do a background check on some systems it doesnt even come up at all but I'm not taking a chance on that plus the information is all out there on the Board's website so no since in lying about it. I will definitely keep you posted as to what is going on. Thanks for listening and sharing. Just hearing someone else's story makes me realize I'm not alone

Dialysis job while On Probation with the PA DMP
Thank you for giving me a sense of peace. I just have to let it go for now and turn it over. I'm not sure where you are located but the money isnt the greatest here but its better than the unemployment I'm making. My fellow nurses here in CA are making >100,000. I will be lucky to make 70,000 but I am not complaining at all. Its has been tough to find a job not just because of my probation status but the whole economy period. I sent have out hundreds of resumes(none mention my license status, of course) and out of that i had a total of 5 interviews, 2 didnt call me back(1 most likely because of prbation and the 2nd one I dont think I was a fit-I didnt even mention my license status) I have 4 years on probation but here in CA after 2 years you can request early termination if you have met all your conditions...this job will be my last condition. I will keep you posted

RNZenpeaceful: I was just wondering how things turned out for you with DaVita. I too have a license on probation. I was recently hired by DaVita, I just completed my drug screen and background check. i'm very fearful that some corporate head will stop my hiring proces. I'm on the brink of homlessness. House been foreclosed, car payments behind, bankruptcy filed, behind on rent etc etc. How did your hiring process go?

MizChelleRN: Actually my posting was for you. I will definitely keep you all posted re: my Davita hiring. I'm in CA and I know headquarters are in Colorado. I, too was honest on my application and with the manager and thnk God he was willing to give me a chance; I'm just hoping some corporate head doesnt crush my opportunity to move forward and get my life back. I hope you call back and get more details about this "committee" that made the decision. We are nurses on probation, our licenses havent been revoked. We deserve a second chance. If the board is willing to give us a second chance why can't employers

Any legit job websites?
My heart goes out to you. I am in the same situation. My license has been on probation for the past year (I committed a misdemeanor theft that didn't involve narcs but timesheets related, I did it and I have taken full responsibility and have paid restitution) I have been looking for a nursing job for the past year in that time I have filed bankruptcy, foreclosed on home and basically living hand to mouth. I have applied to hospitals, SNF's etc. I have been applying for jobs at Davita for the past 5 months(my background is critical care no renal experience) I finally had an interview with a manger, she loved me. I was upfront about my probation status etc. she couldnt hire me because she had exhausted all her training dollars but she did refer me to another manager. He interviewed me as well and was impressed with me. He offer me a position. Good pay, good schedule, close to home. I can't even get excited about the position because I am so worried that some person in corporate will stop by hiring process. I submitted my background check and drug screen today and I'm just holding my breath. I also believe that when a door closes, a window opens up. But lately I have had so many door close and there just doesnt seem to be enough windows. As I move forward I will let you know the turn out of my situation

Well several months have passed and I'm still unemployed. I havent had any interviews, the market is very tough here in the bay area but just received a call for an interview this week. Again please send your positive vibes and any helpful advice you may have

You guys pulled me through
Follow Up- Well I had my interview a few weeks ago. I didnt get the job but the interview was successful for me because it was the first time I had to tell a potential employer that my license was on probation. Guess what..the Earth didn't open up and swallow me. I still plowing along looking for work but I am more hopeful and I know that I am not the only one in this situation. This forum has given me a lot of support and I thank you all. I will keep you posted.

You guys pulled me through
Thank you for your kind words and good advice. I will take it all in. I have prepared myself with the typical interview questions, checked out the website, mission statement etc. Got the suit and tie, haircut. Now I will just let go and let God. I will keep everyone informed.

You guys pulled me through
Thank you Thank you. I so needed to read this story. I do not have an issue with etoh or drugs but I did commit a misdemeanor crime in 2006. Error in judgment and a pack mentality but I take full responsibility. The BRN placed my license on probation with no restrictions on practice. I haven't worked in 3 mos and tomorrow I have an interview and I'm petrified. i have to bring up my probation status and I'm just loss and feel like my career world will never be the same. Your post gave me hope and i knbow I just need to hang in there and realize that when a door closes a window opens.

My story
Hey Mike, Thanks for your story I needed to hear. I have been a nurse over 15 years and recently I committed a misdemeanor. I was working at a facility where I got paid for days not worked, it was a common practice and during an independent audit this came to light and i was charged with theft. The board reviewed my case and thank god, they didnt revoke my license but they did place it on probation without restrictions. Tomorrow I have my first interview. My question is when and how do I bring up this past indiscretion?
