I graduated from the GHC/Wellstar program last May. If I remember correctly, I received my admission letter from the college in early June. Along with the letter was information regarding the Wellstar scholarship program. I was asked to write an essay on why I wanted to become a nurse, then they selected the student for interviews. I think I had my interview in July, and was notified of my acceptance soon after. It was my understanding that if I was not chosen for the program, I would still be in the GHC nursing program, but would be attending the Rome campuses. I attended classes in Marietta for 2 years...I was at North Metro Tech, and Southern Poly Tech, but I think the classes are now held at the Wellstar Development Center on Windy Hill. The first semester was 4 days/week with 7-8 hour days...as the program moves along, it seems that you spend a little less time in the classroom and more time in clinicals. There were 25 people in my class and it was a great experience. The instructors were the best! At the end of the program I was well prepared for the NCLEX....which is what it's really all about :) I'm now working for Wellstar (which is where I would have worked even if I hadn't gotten the scholarship) I signed a contract to work 3 years full-time as a RN in return for my school. I did have to pay for the first semester out of pocket, but they reimbursed me in full. After that, they paid for everything...tuition, books, uniforms, supplies, etc...up front at the beginning of each semester. Wellstar even hired me as a student nurse extern (a paid position) while I was in school...this allowed me to meet people and find the perfect place for me before graduation. I hope this helps you. I'm scheduled to take my test July 17th. I've done Lippencott and Medspub reviews...and my average is around 75%. Does anyone know what percentage we should aim for?

I am in nursing school...our instructors and our books refer to patients as clients. We've had long discussions with differing views as to which is correct. Which do you say?

Georgia Highlands does not offer a ADN-BSN program. Kennesaw State is supposed to have a wonderful ADN-BSN bridge program (i think most of it can even be taken online) Good luck

What kind of employer are they....do you like them?

I'm a first year student in the Georgia Highlands Nursing Program. So far so good...There was no entrance exam...just the prereq's...GH actually has 2 nursing programs...one is in Rome and the other is in Acworth, at the North Metro Tech campus (this is where I am). The program in Rome is open to 80 students/year and Acworth is open to 25 students/year. Acworth is a scholarship program through Wellstar...you apply to GH....are chosen by Wellstar...write an essay....interview...and if accepted...Wellstar pays everything and you promise to work for them for three years following graduation. I love it! It is a tough program, but GH claims they have a 94% NCLEX pass rate...so I guess it will be worth it! Good Luck!

Hey everyone! I am a GHC student and just mailed my application! I'm hoping to get in the Acworth program. (knock on wood) Are any of you in that program? What was the interview process like? What are the classes like? What are the clinicals like? Tell me about the clinical calc tests....anything you want to share is VERY appreciated! Thanks guys. OO

I took my prereq's at Georgia Highlands College (it used to be Floyd College). They have campuses in Rome, Acworth, Marietta, and Cartersville. They also have evening, online, and DVD courses! (very affordable too I might add.)

I just mailed my application last week! OMG I have to wait until mid-May! Last night I dreamed that I got the letter early and it said "We don't usually send out acceptance letters until May, but we were so impressed with your application, that we are inviting into our program early."....It's official...I've LOST MY MIND.
