  1. Hi Cohort 3, Yes it is true. There is no social life for the first semester. The hardest part of MEPN is adjusting to the schedule and the demands of the program. However, as long as you are all determined and flexible, nothing's gonna stop you. The next semesters become easier as we all learned to expect the unexpected. I would recommend not working at all. Between clinic, classes and outside obligations, you will be swamped. My best advice is to keep up with your readings and find study buddies that will share chapter outlines with you. Best of luck to all of you. You will love this program because it will challenge you emotionally, academically and maybe physically sometimes. Remember to study smart and don't let the kinks in the system get you down. And always stay on the good side of the faculty advisor.... And your classmates are your best advocates so work as a team! Maria
  2. Hi MEPN 3 cohort! I am from MEPN cohort 2. I welcome you all to the program. Best of luck! Maria:yeah:
  3. Hi Asherah, I completely understand where you are coming from. I graduated from UCLA with a microbiology and molecular genetics degree. This particular major has an average cumulative GPA of 2.6. It is a really hard major. During my application process, I was really upset that I had to compete with people who had stellar GPAs from easier majors and schools. But I have to make lemonade out of my lemon (my low GPA). I also got a 4.0 on all my prerequisites which is equivalent to about a year of course work. So what I did was really look for programs that valued life experience rather than an applicant's numbers. Obviously, I could never win in a numbers game. However, CSUDH has such a program and they actually ask each applicant to turn in a portfolio of their cumulative life experiences. I am happy to say that I will be starting their program in the fall. So it really depends on what a school is looking for. So don't give up!!!!! Chachingdy;)
  4. Hi Stressed Girl and Pivot Pivot, We'll all hear this week! Hang in there. I called Jane Conner last Friday and she said she's just finishing up deciding who to invite for an interview. And as stressed girl said, there are only 20 spots and there were over 100 applicants. Aaaaaah! Sounds so scary! Congrats to you Pivotpivot and goodluck to all of us. Chachingdy
  5. Hi stressed girl, Thanks for the info! Man I am freaked out. I did well in the TEAS. My last 90 units is a 2.9 but all the classes I took for prereqs after graduating I aced. I have been out of school for 7 years and have academic (scientific) publications. I hope that counts for something. But if they only have 20 spots, we'll see what my chances are. This is so nerve-wracking isn't it? I hope I get an interview at least. And yes, could you forward me the website? Thanks for being so helpful! Chachingdy
  6. Hi stressed girl! Goodluck to you! I am in the same boat, but only applying to CSULB and CSULA. Have you been out of school for awhile? I have. I was a mIcrobio and English major from UCLA and have been doing research for awhile. Hope you respond. chachingdy
  7. Hi Stressed girl! Am so stressed too. I am not sure how many applicants are going to be accepted. If they are only accepting 20, then my chances won't be so great coz my GPA isn't that great. Do you know when they will be interviewing people? Am so glad you responded! Chachingdy
  8. Hello everyone! Is there anyone out there applying to direct entry MSN programs in California? -C
  9. Hi Kensington, I am applying to CSULA and they want my undergrad GPA. They do not factor in any post bachelor classes I have taken. This is starting to feel hopeless. Thanks for the info. --C
  10. Hi Everyone, I am currently applying to a direct entry msn program and was weighing my chances of getting in. I didn't have such a great GPA in my undergrad. Since most of you have successfully gained admission into a direct entry msn program, I was wondering what your GPAs were? Also, what volunteer activities did you have and any entrance exam scores? Thanks for your help. -C.
