  1. I worked at Sarasota memorial and got that RNll. I sure wish I didn't. for that extra change you get a full dollar's worth of toro do-do. If you want to be charge and attend dopey meetings and move up the ladder, go for it. I liked to do my shift and go home to the family. I had to quit because I couldn't reverse it and be RNl again. I have ADN and did projects to get RNll. BSN are RNll.
  2. I could picture the smile on your face when you spoke of a baby in July. Congratulations and God bless.
  3. I don't believe any agency would take you until you have at the very least 1 year. I would strongly suggest 1 year med/surg to get your feet wet, and then another year in your specialty area. The hospital is expecting you to jump right in with only one day orientation on the floor. Hold tight to your dreams, but take it one step at a time, graduate first.
  4. Yesterday, I Was With My Attorney Concerning Another Type Of Contract, So I Asked Him About This Verbal Contract Stuff. He Said There Is So Much More To It Than What Is Thought. He Said It Was Pretty Much Toro Do-do Because Of The He Said She Said Problem. It Is A Nice Scare Tactic. Just Remember, You Can Always Bring A Lawsuit. Any Two Bit Attorney Would Love To Take On A Company.
  5. YUP, IT'S IN FLORIDA. COLD IN INDY YOU SAY? MY BABY GIRL JUST GOT ACCEPTED TO PURDUE, FOR CHEMISTRY NOT NURSING! IT SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY I WAS CHANGING HER DIAPERS. JUST SO YOU KNOW, THERE'S LOTS OF POLITICS AT EVERY HOSPITAL. THAT'S WHY I TRAVEL. IF HOSPITALS TREATED NURSES RIGHT, I WOULD BE OUT OF A JOB!

I Always Keep Notes On What Is Agreed To Verbally And Have Sent Back Contracts That Were Incorrect. My Recruiter Has Always Been Straight With Me, So I Stay With Her. If I Ever Had A Recruiter Say "a Verbal Contract Is Legal And Binding" I Would Get Another Agency, However , Trust Is A Two Way Street. If You Cancel A Contract Because You Want To Go Home, You Will Pay Big $. Many Years Ago When I Signed Up For The Army, I Realized In Boot Camp I Made A Big Mistake But Said To Myself, It Was For Only 4 Years. I Made The Best Of It-life Long Friends, Personal Growth, And Experiences I Still Won't Tell My Grown Children. Make The Best Of It-learn, Grow, And Explore With New Friends. It's Only 13 Weeks.
  7. I Worked At Lee Memorial Health System A While Back. They Told You 7-1 With A Pca? If Our Pca Showed Up, She Was Off The Floor Much Of The Time On The Phone Or Outside Smoking, Caution, Lee Memorial Is A System Of 5 Hospitals In Lee County, Be Sure You Have In Your Contract A No Float To Other Lee Owned Hospitals. This Is Important. I Was Told 5 Or 6 To 1 At Lee's Cape Coral Hospital On Pcu, With Drips. We Had 8-1 (staffed That Way) And One Pca For The Floor, I Think 28 Pts. The Person Giving The Pbds Test Is An Educator Nurse With A Master's But Wouldn't Know Which End To Place The Bedpan. If You Don't Pass Don't Worry About Getting Let Go, They Are Too Despirate For A Warm Body This Time Of Year, Especially If It's Cape Coral Or Lee Memorial Pcu Floor. It's Been About 2 Years Since I Was There, My Assignment From Hell.

Thankx For The Input. Tonight, I Have The Pleasure Of Working With A Travel Nurse Who Was Just At A Hca Very Near Tampa. She Said That She And All The Travelers And Contract Nurses Were Released Early When The Hospital Brought In Nurses From India Who Had A Problem With English. I'm Thinking That Says Profit Above Patient Care, And Corporate Must Have Allowed This.

I have been told it is best to stay away from HCA hospitals as a traveler. Could someone give me some insight about this. Florida's west coast has many and I was thinking about a travel job there.
