Hi everyone, I have started a paper on gerd consisting of the description of the disease, the effects, goals I need to carry out, expected and realized evaluation in my nursing care for them. I am just looking for some ideas for a hypothetical patient with gerd and maybe other potential complicating disease contributing to it with meds. We literally just lectured on this disease yesterday and I haven't seen a client with gerd. I need to incorporate my goals that I carry out for them. I have no problem with that section. I feeling a bit stressed and uncreated. Could somone give me an idea for my "hypothetical" client in the hospital. I would greatly appreciate it.. this paper is due Friday and would love to finish it today... Thanks.. Sylvia

Hi Zebra... Yes, I am doing clinical's at a hospital. I have access to their database and the GI nursing journals are not available there. I found a way to get them all for free, but it took me 3 days. LOL.... For anyone looking for free access.. I am a current ADN Nursing student. I am writing a paper based on nursing journals on GERD. I have found some interesting articles online or in the library pertaining to my subject. I am looking to get 2 great articles from the Gastroenterology Nursing Journal. Does anyone know how to get the articles without having to pay $8.00 for each. I am so interested in GI and still in the process of deciding my area of specialty. These are the articles in which I a m searching for with no luck. Hi.. I am currently a student at St. Vincent's I applied last May 2006. I was accepted but was placed onto a waiting list as most starting this fall. I have to tell you, there is a waiting list already for 2009. Please be cautious and apply to as many schools as possible. If by chance there some general student's get all their pre-req's the do get a chance to take that spot in the nursing course. It's unfortunate that they have such a low gpa average that allows most students to be accepted into the program but do not manage to get past the first semester. What a waist of time for all of us. St. Vincent's is tough, they do not take any chances. Right now the GPA for nursing students to pass is an 80. You have to maintain that as well as have good people skills during clinical or your out. There were several student's 2 weeks prior to graduation was kicked out of the program. They do not have an option of returning to the school, either.. Good Luck.. and you need to get some clear answer's with St. Vincent's. Good Luck!

Hi Desert Rain, More than likely they'll call it Mitral Valve and Tricuspid. There are diagnosis' of Mitral Valve Prolapse, etc... Like I said, once you learn it you'll remember both names.. Dont worry so much... you could also email me too.

Once you learn the names, you pretty much know where their located; Tricuspid/ right AV Valve Mitral/ left AV Valve I learned this in A&P 1... try to visualize the picture of the heart and the valves.

Thank you for all your excellent advice! I do have some chores for my daughter (13) my son (10) is useless, my hubby and I try to get him to help out but we're not having any luck. I do have my eye on the prize. I have to say my children have learned excellent study skills from me and I have set such an example for them. Doing well in school is a priority for them. My family always come first, but I have a goal of getting A's so I could get scholarships to help pay for my schooling. My hubby is great after 10 yrs he finally can cook and better than me now.. lol.. I think I will try to get up early and get some cleaning done then (I'm definately not a morning person) and not make myself crazy. My husband is helpful, but usually throws everything out. I'm 31, a semester away from starting nursing school and get overly stressed out with my house. I have 2 children 10 and 13, who are not much help and a "wife" I mean husband who really tries but doesn't do such a great job. I know something is better than nothing. I work part time and currently take micro w/ lab and a&p2. Is it me or is it really difficult to balance everything from house work to school. During semesters I always fall really behind on my housework and play catch up on break with major cleaning and organizing. It's obvious that schooling is a priority. I do take breaks to do laundry, and pick up. But, it always seem to never be enough.. and it's going to only get worse once nursing starts. What's your strategy? :uhoh21:
