Accepted to St. Vincents (Competency Exam)!!!!
Hi there! I just graduated from ST. v 2 years ago. I must tell you that's standard regulations from almost each school. ( sadly) however if you don't pass the test, taking those classes will re- in force your knowledge,. I had to taken AP three times from different schools, but time went fast and I got to my goal. St. Nursing school it's challenging but you are well prepared, I am thankful that I stayed and hope you make a wise choice. Good luck to you

Precepting New Grad in CVICU
I am new grad.. I like my preceptor. However I wish she challenge me further versus letting me do what I think it's right. No you are doing the right approach.. I would talk to her and ask if anything is bothering her. Sometime personality clash and will not help neither of you. Specially her and the safety of the patients.

Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2010
Thank you Matt, I have been going to school for the longest time. I cannot wait to be in the program. I have the opportunity of being in different states because my husband was constanly moving with the coast guard, and I had the chance to experienced the system of different states, few of then will interview you before they accept you into the program. it's a shame, and frustating to know that people that does not have the calling for nursing but are extremely smart(second degree) get in into the program without having bedside manners. I love nursing cannot and will not give up my dream. with the economy so bad now everyone wants to make money out nursing career without even knowing what nursing is all about. thank you for reading my negative comment

Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2010
I am so sorry to hear that . I went through this myself. last year it was my computer class. I waited a year long to re-apply. this year I got a letter from gateway stating that I was not qualified because my english com was not included....i fought with my nails and I got it clear...there was a missing transcripst from my file. I must say that the nursing people from gateway were fabulous and they help me out. You maybe available to go back to that school website where you got your english 101 and get it from your logging. fight...do not give up...i wish you good luck. i know you must be upset.

Goodwin College Nursing Seminar Notes
hello, i was there too. it's amazing how expensive this school is. each credit is $430.00. so the total of one class is ex: english 101 is 3 credits the total will be $1290.00 for one class not including books. that worst thing that i learned was the, you have to have a least 4 classes not credits but classes with them so you could be consider to be a potential nurse student. i myself finish all my pre-req. but i went to the seminar to see what they offer just in case i don't hear anything from other places that i have applied already. i spoke with one of the girl from the seminar and she told me, that i will have to take 4 classes in order to be considering their students. her words were as follow: " is a catch 22..you need to take those 4 classes for us to consider you" are you kidding me....that sad thing is that even if you take those classes there no community college in us or university will recognize those. i don't know how legal is that....but i’m sure that i am not paying for their new building...and fancy classrooms...stick with the cc from ct ...those are there because we pay taxes.

Please tell me I am wrong, but I was told the St. Vincent will not grant any liberal or science credit unless taken in their facility? I did not even bother to look up their program because that reason. ...as you know every school you want to get in is very monetary monopoly.please let me know your response.

CT Colleges Ready to apply for 2009!!
Hello TrepinCT, I just wanted to let you know, that I was at Yale Nursing school building at New haven town, with my husband for different type of business, but I went to the nursing admission office just to check out for curiosity and I got to meet a really nice lady, that had told me about their program. the acceptance is standard steps as any other regular nursing school. they take applications until feb 2009. and their program is for people whom have already complete their bachelors in any other field (preferably science) she told me that the program is about three years for Master in Nursing. hoped this can help!!!

CT Colleges Ready to apply for 2009!!
Hey Regi and all Actually I did called them, (Cochran) but I was told that they were very busy with the new students coming in from last admission. The lady the I spoke with, was very pleasant and told me to keep calling for new info for 2009 acceptance...so really we just need to be persistent. Honestly, it's hard to get a hold of the nursing staff in each school. Regi, we here because we know what we want...you are working hard as much as I have. let me just share with all of you!! I just drove 24 hours from Hartford CT to Kingsland, GA My hubby is in active duty there. I am tired and sleepy. cannot wait when this is over and get back home for good. FYI....the heat here is horrible...the nursing schools in here are very selective, and not easy to get in. anyway, I went to CT for a week just to take care my mother-in-law..she's 83...just had a colostomy, and ladies....it was an experiece...thanksfully she will be having a surgery soon to re-attach her colon, the good news was that she is clear of any malignacy. the experience comfirmed once again that I desire to be a good nurse. thank you all for your support

Thank you Regi!! I did look into Norwalk CT college, and they did not gave any problem...honestly, I feel bit offended by the NVCC counselor, but it's OK. I will stay away from that school. I refuse to take a class again if I don't have too. I will also apply to Cochran just waiting the new admission. also Bridgeport Hospital. we all get there some day!!

CT Colleges Ready to apply for 2009!!
Hi Angela, First you deserve ....you have not give up your dream!! I am one of those. Every school has their own regulations, but as you mentioned CT is kind of universal. However I must said you must follow your heart. I went to NVCC waterbury, and I was very upset due to that they asked me to re-take a basic english class 101...when I've been taken the class, and got a C. I took this class at Norwalk CC. back 1999 starting college and I admited could it done a better job. however I took english 102 and got a B. so why make me re-take, basic class..??? I went to norwalk CC. today and I sat down with a nursing counselor, and she did not make any remark about my english 101, actually she gave me a compliment, for the hard work I had put on, and encouraged me to keep taking class to get my BSN. the only class I have to take if I decide to stay with Norwalk will be the computer class. works for me...in my opinion the lady from NVCC...was not personal, if you know what i mean!! Good luck... look others avenues, call, set up appoitments, and always check if they give you credit for what you have worked hard.

CT Colleges Ready to apply for 2009!!
Hi I have completed all my pre-req, but the computer class, which I have no problem to take this fall prior to the dead line. what I'm upset is the my english 101 is "c" however I took the English II 102 advance and got a "B" still she want me to go and retake the English I 101...absurd... 300 applied to NVCC last fall, and 150 were granted. she told me the every year varies...so who knows.. I went to Goodwin College to register for the NLN....guess what is closed for the fall...so this school is out the question unless I fly to Pensacola FL to take sometime in october. there are few schools in the north the required this type of test. NLN is mostly request by the southerner's schools. such as Missisipi, LA, FL . what classes are you taken right now? where are you taking your TEAS?

CT Colleges Ready to apply for 2009!!
hello Ms. Deannah Yes I did get the study book from the ATI center. did cover the Chem and Physics more than Human Anatomy or physiology. I recall maybe one question about AP such as: does insulin is produce by the pancreas or liver. any case, if you have the same book, I can tell you some points with pages noted. let me know ( before I start forgetting the questions) You will get your score right away. Wow, I'm shocked to see the amount of applicants at Gateway...I suppose the Capital have to be more requested, since is the capitol. I have not taken that test yet at Godwin....my God they want $70.00. for the test. I just pd $ 50.00 for the registration. any way I will see if I can register. I'm planning to apply at bridgeport program too.:typing Raquel

CT Colleges Ready to apply for 2009!!
Thank you Regi, When are you planning to take the TEAS test? be aware the Biology is the most crucial point. there is not much of AP , little Chem, Physics and math (lots) . so please review Biology more than anything. questions such as what planet is more similar to the earth: Jupiter, Venus, mars and so on...honestly I guess the answer in this one. there was also questions about classification of rocks in the planet? what will cause the earth to move the tetonic plates? like i say before lots of Biology!!! got a new question!! I'm having a debate wheather I should applied to NVCC as first choice or Capital at Hartford. I would like to know the compentitive ratio about those schools...any one?? thank you:rolleyes:

OK. :wink2:
