Accepted Columbia ETP applicants (and current students: some advice). get-together?
I've been assigned to room 324... Looks likes we'll be floor mates! Haven't heard a peep about meal plans... I'm under the impression that they don't exist. I noticed you're from Cali? What part? I'm from San Diego and with the weather today I'm dreading the move out east!

Any WOMEN'S HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONERS out there?
Hey everyone: I'm beginning Columbia's entry to practice MSN/NP program in May. I applied as a Women's Health speciality and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how marketable WHNPs are in California (or anywhere, for that matter). I'm contemplating doing a dual speciality in WH and Adult NP to make myself more marketable yet I know that my real passion is in WH but, I would like to be able to get a job once I'm done. Any advice? Thank you!

Accepted Columbia ETP applicants (and current students: some advice). get-together?
The housing director said that they were going to begin housing placements the week of March 19th (this week). I'm assuming we should be receiving info next week...Also, I am pretty sure she said that most people from outside the NY metropolitan area get dorms are able to be placed in dorms for the summer. Regarding the dorms: the rooms are pretty nice and not super small. I don't believe there is a cafeteria but there is a communal kitchen (which I did NOT see). There are communal bathrooms on the floors but each room has a sink in it. There is a small but sufficient gym downstairs. Hope that helps!

Accepted Columbia ETP applicants (and current students: some advice). get-together?
- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Has anyone heard from Yale regarding acceptances or rejections (hopefully the former)??? This wait it killing me. Do they call everyone regardless of whether you were accepted or not?- Accepted Columbia ETP applicants (and current students: some advice). get-together?
Congratulations to all of you!!! I just received my acceptance letter and couldn't be happier!!! I'm going into the Women's Health NP track and would love to chat with anyone else in ths specialty. Again, congrats to all of you...- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Thanks for the suggestion...- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
BlueJune: Glad you're interview went well. I also had a similar experience during my interview. If you don't mind me asking, who did you interview with?- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Opps. Didn't mean to scare everyone. I'm sure you're right about it just referring to the set up of the day... let's hope so anyway!!!- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
I am also wondering what sort of attire is appropriate for the interview? Also, in the letter I rec'vd from admissions they stated they do use the "block interview system" yet it also showed that we have individual interviews with a faculty member. Does anyone know what the day entails? is there a group and individual interview? THANKS TO ALL!!- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Thanks for the info. I am going to call them tomorrow to book the room. I am planning on going to the pot luck on Thursday evening. We should definately get together afterwards... I am going to be a big ball of nerves and will definately need something to keep my mind off the craziness.- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Thanks for the advice. Very good insider info to know. Being from out west, I have NO clue about the area...- Any Fall 2007 UCLA MECN Applicants out there?
Well, I would get my MSN at UCLA and then work for a year or two as a staff nurse. Then go back to get my post-masters NP certificate... Kinda a round-about way to do it but it works.- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Thanks for the offer May Baby... I was hoping for the Marriot deal and was waiting to hear from the lady at YSN to see about accomodations at a students house... Haven't heard from her yet but I guess I should make reservations. I have AAA so I may try Marriott. You said you booked it directyl through the hotel website? Is it located within walking distance to the campus? Thanks- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Actually, I am at the Mission Bay location (basically in PB). It sounds like you have a good volunteer background. That'll def help. I will be arriving in CT on January 17th (weds) and leaving the 20th (sat). We should def meet up in CT. Will you be there on Thursday day at all? I was thinking of devoting that day to checking out the campus and the surronding area.- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Like you said, Yale is Yale. Columbia would be amazing also and UCLA would be a lot more affordable. I'll just have to see who wants me and go from there. Yeah, I've done quite a bit of medical volunteering throughout college. A couple hospitals and I am now a volunteer @ Planned Parenthood. I've shadowed a few women's health NPs (the speciality I am going into) and attended a couple of births. Have you done any volunteer work? If you do end up having any free time, Planned Parenthood is great! They are one of the only places that actually allows volunteers direct patient contact. Very fun! Anyway, we should try to meet up for coffee or something prior to going out there... compare notes or whatever.- Any Fall 2007 UCLA MECN Applicants out there?
Good to know. Thanks! I have also applied to UCSF, Columbia, Yale and Northeastern. Have an interview out at Yale in a couple of weeks. I didn't realize they notify us so late.... I believe Yale and Columbia require you to make a decision by early march which obviously won't allow me to wait to see if I get into UCLA. The only reason I would choose UCLA's program is the cost... I am CA resident so it would be a lot more affordable. I want to be an NP so the UCLA program isn't a direct fit with that but it could be done. What are your ultimate career goals in getting the CNS Masters?- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Yeah, I will be flying right into New Haven.... Didn't want to have to deal with renting a car and all that. What about you? I also applied to UCSF (got rejected ), Columbia, UCLA and Northeastern. Good luck @ Western! Which school would be your 1st choice?- Any Fall 2007 UCLA MECN Applicants out there?
Hey!!! I am a UCLA MECN applicant... Do you know any details about the application process? Do they conduct interviews??- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
I will probably being doing the Marriot deal for one of the nights but I am hoping to be able to stay with a current GEPN student for two nights... We'll see. As of right now, I am working in SD. Graduated from UCSD this spring and taking a couple of science pre-reqs for the program. How about you? Where else did you apply?- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Hey MonYmonY: I purchased my ticket a couple of days ago and I will be arriving in New Haven on Weds (1/17) evening and leaving Saturday morning. I am thinking of attending the Thursday evening Potluck... How about you?? What speciality track are you going for?- Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
Hey everyone! This is my first actual entry but like some of you, I have been secretly gettting some great info throughout the application process. I will be interviewing at Yale on January 19th for the Women's Health NP track. Do any current students (or anyone for that matter) have any helpful hints for the interview process? I would love you hear other peoples' experiences in the program. Also, I wil be traveling out from San Diego by myself and wanted to see if anyone else on here is doing the same... Maybe we could meet for dinner one of the nights. Happy new year to all of you! - Yale GEPN Program: Letters, Interviews, and Questions, Oh my!!!
