I worked here fresh out of school. It’s a busy place and you will learn a lot. HHC hospitals are hard to get into because many seek them out for their pension. However, that being said it is worth the experience. You learn a lot through exposure but also at times are overwhelmed by the volume and clientele. It’s an inner city hospital and deal with a range of social problems. But once you work there you can work anywhere. That’s how I feel. I have a great foundation.

Thank you all for replying. I’m just hoping for some wiggle room. I know it won’t be close to what I am making now but I will ask to start at a higher pay scale based on the above reasons. I figure the worst thing that could happen is they say no.

Just need some advice. Best way to negotiate salary. I know most school districts have a step salary schedule. However, this job would be a huge pay cut and I feel I am great asset to the particular school. I have many years of pediatric and ER experience, certifications and most importantly I am bilingual in Spanish. The school serves a large population of Hispanic families. Not sure what that correct way to go about asking for more than 47k. Thanks in advance -futurern09

if the message tells you to contact your board of nursing office this means....... You PASSED! it worked for me. The website will ask you for your info, (school, graduation date etc.) but then once you hit next a message should pop up saying you have to contact your board of nursing. Good luck. Hi everyone, Would you guys please be able to point me in the right direction. I am looking for states that currently list "Assault on a nurse" as a felony. I have to write a paper for a leadership class on the pro's and cons'(don't know of anyone who would be opposed to protection) and I am trying to gather my informaton. I am looking to hopefully obtain an externship for the summer but I don't know where to exactly look for applications or where to apply. I found a few hospitals but not all of them list information on their nurse externship programs. Any information is greatly appreciated and needed to get the ball rolling in obtaining my goal!! I understand you, I'm in the same situation. I start nursing school this fall and I can't wait, however I do plan to enjoy my summer to the fullest because once September comes I won't have a life. So I advise you the same. I know you are eager to start as am I, but please enjoy your summer read books, take a vacation, relax and hang out because if will be tough to do any of the above once school starts. I also cannot tell my office job boss I start because I still need the job and dont want to get kicked out. It's funny when I first read your post I thought I had written it. LOL..

Hi JennyMac, I used to live near the area on 167 and my sis was hospitalized there. As far as the area it isn't the best area in the world but it isnt the worst. If you take the D train to 174(the stop for the hospital) its an easy walk and the streets are pretty busy with people. But if you take the 4 train its a little further and more of walk in a crappier area. There are a lot of stores that close around 7 and after that it becomes pretty deserted except for illegal activity that occuring. If you stay on the concourse and on the D line you shouldn't have any problems. However I do agree with everyone else don't create a routine, this can be applied anywhere you work. I cant rememeber the name of a condition that ................some pregnant women suffer from where they feel pain from having a pinched nerve in their bottom area or their legs when they walk. If anyone can help me with this i would appreciate it. thanks

Hello, The bumps are from your skin being irritated from the thread and especially on a hot day if your sweating this makes it worse. If while they were threading your eyebrows the thread broke this will also irritate your skin.( This is the only downfall to threading the eyebrows.) the only thing i can think about is getting a soothing gel similar to aloe vera that are used in waxing salons, you can get this at a duane reade. I personally like the one with a honey comb design and a bee on it.(Sorry dont remember the name) Or a cold cloth to the area. Hope this helps. FutureRN

What happens to the students that finish their programs at the end of the Fall semester? Do they receive a traditional graduation ceremony(commencment ceremony by the school, walking across the stage, cap and gown etc), OR do they just receive their degrees and are sent on their merry ways???? :idea: Also can anyone describe the pinning ceremony? Thanks guys for all your help. I already took A&P Ilast semester along with 3 other classes being that im a full time student. I worked hard and it paid off I got an A in A&P and my avg overall was good (3.8). This spring semester im taking A&P II, speech, contemp. moral issues, sociology, and history So in the summer i would need to take micro, chem pt 2, english 2x, history. Is it possible??? Oh and this is all for LIU bklyn campus.

I would love to start the nursing program in fall 07. However in order to do so i need to complete my pre-reqs. I have 12 pre reqs. ( 6 of which im taking this spring.) And six of which are left.Was thinking of taking classes summer session 1 and 2. :monkeydance: Is this possible??? Has anyone done this before?????
