LPN MDS coordinator course
I am a LPN & would like to start online coures for MDS coordinator but I understand that some states you have to be a RN. I'm trying to find out what states allow LPN to work in that position. How do I find that out?

on-line schools
I am currently an LPN and working 2 jobs. I really don't have the time to sit in a traditional class. I have really been looking seriously at College Network. But before I sign on the dotted line and commit myself to a financial agreemnt, I would like some feedback from other nurses. So anyone who has went through or is going through this or similar type program, please give me replies. I really don't want to start this then find out there is more to this than what they are telling me.Then:confused: get stuck with a hefty bill and no way out. I appreciate any and all comments Thanks, Addie80

LPN Fast Track Program Question's
I have also been inquiring about the "fast track"program.(I don't know why they call it that)There is nothing fast about it. I went to a so-call adviser at MCC at Estrella mountain. I have never been so discouraged about education in all my life. First I want to say, I feel these colleges are a "rip-off.It is all about how much money they can make with all the pre-requisites they are making a person take. I was told in order to get credit for the classes I took for my LPN License that I would have to pay $61 for each credit that I earned to have those credits to be considered. That amount came to about $1,600. This was still no guaranteed I would get the credit, just for them to consider them. I am from Michigan and I have never heard of such foolishness. The adviser was very dry and gave me a list of about 10:confused: classes I should take before even getting into the program. I might as well be starting from scratch.I felt my little LPN License did not mean a thing. I had tears in my eyes when I left there. On the other hand I also went over to Pima Medical institute in Mesa and was told I only needed 3 pre reqs. They are not looking for dedicated nurses, these schools are all about making money. I am almost to the point of just saying forget it and try a whole different field outside of medicine.

Which hospitals in the metro Dertroit area...
Good question!!If you find one let other nurses know. I dont want to sound negative but the truth is there is a shortage for nurses(extrmely)There is even a shortage for instructors that's why it is such a waiting list to get into nursing programs. I would suggest just jump in there & start with med surg. I guarantee you after you leave there you will be ready for anything. The thing to keep in mind is if not sure then ask, dont guess. You will be surprised at the things you learn in the classroom will come back to you. You are really at an advantage because what you have learned is still fresh in youir mind so use that knowledge. In a setting let med surg, not only will it help later but it will give you that additional knowledge that you just wont get in school. God Bless

Is it really so hard to get into a program
I am an LPN from Michigan new to AZ. I actually stay in Surprise & I just wanted to go back to school to get my RN. So far it is discouraging. Ethel Bauer school of Nursing was talking about some outrageous tuition of $26,000 I'll be working the first 2 yrs just to pay for the school. Maricopa community college wants me to take about 6 prereqs before I can even apply for the nursing program. Is this the same story every where in AZ. Now I'm thinking I should have stayed in Michigan and endured the winter. But moving over 2,000 miles is very costly. I just want to be a RN. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have the nerve to think 57 y/o can go back to school!!!
 I live in surprise. So far I am beginning to realize that I have to do some driving to any school. My main concern is I am too old to keep waiting to be put on a long waiting list to get into a RN program. I could stay an LPN but I just need to get more pay than an LPN & I feel I can do the work. I looked at some of the prereq at such colleges as gateway & I think that is a lot to do before I can even apply. Also what did you mean by I was in the wrong forum?

Have the nerve to think 57 y/o can go back to school!!!
:chuckle :chuckle :chuckle I am new to az from Michigan.I am an LPN whom happens to be 57 yrs old & wondering how to get started going back to get my RN. I know I do not want to take 100 prereqs to start an RN program. So I was wondering anyone who had no college credits can tell me what may be involved & do different schools have more/less prereqs to take or is this a standard set by the state of az.
