Yes its perfectly legal, most places use MAs/GI Techs to assist the physician during the procedure which can include opening and closing the biopsy forceps/snare/etc. The physician always directs the forceps in and out and tells the tech when to open and close, very safe when properly trained.

I have a BS and LPN with 3 years clinical experience, but no IT experience. What kind of jobs should I look for to get into this field? I was also looking at an MS in medical informatics, but would like to gain some entry level experience before pursuing this, thanks.

If you got your ADN through Excelsior and then went on to a NP program and graduated, will the state you are applying for a NP license care about your RN from Excelsior? For example, California does not currently accept RNs who graduated from Excelsior, but would they accept that same RN who graduated from a NP program and applied for NP licensure?

Hello, I'm currently an LPN in colorado and i'm looking to get my RN, however there are no programs close to me so i'm looking for an online/distance program for which I can finish my RN. Do you know of any? The only one I know of is in WY. Ideally I would like to finish in under one year, the faster the better. I also have a Bachelor of Science if that means anything. No this wont work, they require a BSN to enter their program.

Good evening, I am currently an LPN and I have a Bachelor of Science degree as well. My goal right now is to become a nurse practitioner. I'm looking for a unique nurse practitioner program that will fall under these guidelines: 1) Take less than 3 years to complete 2) Would prefer heavy online component 3) Cost less than $50k for the entire program Any suggestions? I've been searching google and all I can find is Bachelor to MSN programs, but most are expensive and most say that you can only work in certain areas. I would prefer to be a FNP. Thanks!

Hmm well I guess tell that to Harvard, Stanford, all the BEST RANKED schools in the country that having a competitive acceptance process doesnt work, clearly they are not sorting out the brightest, hardest working students in the country. There is a reason why its so hard and competitive to get into CU. Harvard would not have the reputation they have if they let any idiot walk in the door, pay $40K and print out a degree. The NCLEX pass rates dont mean ****, everyone passes the NCLEX, it doesnt mean you were trained well just because you passed.

is FNP recommended for working in the ER as well?

If you have the $$, which is a lot, you can get in, the university of colorado, well you need to be top 10% to get in. Another reason, they are for profit, pay money, they print you a degree. Oh and they are not accredited.

What can you do with a MSN in management and leadership? Was that even worth getting? It is nice that you can get a post MSN certificate. I would think that a MSN should net you a $70k+ a yr job atleast.

DSON is a joke, i wouldnt hire a nurse from there either...Back to the topic, yes there is a hiring freeze, colorado is a horrible place for new grads right now, and even experienced nurses, everyone wants to live here.

Thank you very much, that helped me out a lot. So i would need NP certification to even begin to try and do this. So a MSN really means nothing unless you are going into an administrative position? I will have to ask the Doc if there is some sort of signed document that protects him from being sued. Hes been doing this for 10 yrs and not one problem to date, only a successful practice. Ya thats basically what i mean. However i know that at laser hair removal clinics they have positions for RN's and NP's, not sure what the NP does that makes it limited to them only. I wasnt sure if a MSN permits the RN to do more stuff than a regular BSN, thats what im trying to find out, especially regarding doing colonoscopies.

So I currently work for a MD who has a contract to do colonoscopies in my states (CO) prison system. Its a great gig, however, i would really like to do his job, i make great money, he makes HUGE money. He said once he retires in the next 5 years that he would pass the contracts and practice onto me. Im an RN and was wondering what the best route to take in order to make this happen. Do i need to get my nurse practitioners license? Or how about a MSN in ambulatory care? What do i need? Im sure it can be done, he is unsure about what i need, should i contact the colorado board of nursing? Thanks for your help!

What can you do with a MSN in ambulatory care? Is pay similiar to nurse practitioner pay? I wonder if you can do endoscopy stuff and or work as a nurse practitioner at a beauty clinic?

It seems to me that if a nurse wanted to move up into management/director positions one could do so rather easily and quickly since most nurses do not want to do that. What is your opinion on this? Also, is a BSN a absolute requirement? Do managers get paid overtime?

My friend has a bachelors in accounting and hes graduating this june with his LPN license. He doesnt want to go onto RN school. What jobs are available to an LPN with a business degree? This is a pretty rare combo i would think, certainly there is a place/spot for him? Any ideas?

Im currently an LPN and im looking to join a military branch, i've heard that they would start me at E5 and pay me salary plus pay for school at a civilian RN school if i wanted, is this true? What options do i have as an LPN entering the military? I def. need to get my RN as soon as possible, and BSN. Also, which branch is in the most need for nurses/medical personnel?
