Sorry to hear of your difficulty finding employment as if nursing school wasn't stressful enough. I recently graduated may 09. I took boards in Sept and had several job offers in that same month from Med, Bap, Healthsouth n Meth.However, I began my application process months prior to testing. My advice is to be deligent. You will have to call those recruiters and stay on top of it because they have so much going on. I was told by several recruiters that they don't have a nursing shortage in fact they had more grads than they have positions. They are limited on the number of new nurses they want. St. Fran doesn't do new grads for straight employment. All new grads are required to apply for and complete their Versant program which requires you to sign a 2 yr contract. The med is struggling and quite often has hiring freezes but still does hire. I externed at St. Fran and Meth prior to graduating and that helped. I accepted a position at Meth Univ. Like previously stated, you may have to accept something not so desireable in order to get you foot in the door and once you are in things may open up. I will keep you in my prayers as well!

Ok. I must have done it incorrectly the first time. This time I got the check with your local board msg!!!!!!! I pray that the trick works for me and that it means that I have passed. Well, I feel alot better now. Thank you so much for your quick response. I will continue to pray for everyone else who is waiting to take their exams and awaiting their scores:saint:. I attempted the pearson trick but I wouldn't let me get that far. It showed something about my password already being in use.

Hello everyone! I took nclex sept 8, 09 @8am. I believe it shut off somewhere around 90 something. I am terrified about wheather or t I passed!!! It's absolutely driving me crazy! I believe I missed many of the easy questions like meds I'd never heard of before n others where I freaked n selected the wrong answer. I do feel pretty confident about answering the delegation/prioritizing questions correctly though. I am praying that I pass! Any thoughts on this? I could use some helpful insight n encouragement!!!

no harm done llg. I apologize. I believe that I was really panicing because school is about to start and I don't know how I'm going to pay for it .During my setback all of my business was neglected. I am extremely excited about nursing school and becoming a nurse. I am even more anxious to pay off all of my debt and becoming debt free!!!!!!!!! thanx sooo much llg:nuke:

that's not the case at all. i have worked and supported myself every since i was 17. i even served OUR country in desert storm. for 8.5 years i worked as a deputy at one of the world's largest jail's where i was cursed,threatened hit with things including body fluids and made a very nice salary i might add, but not enough . while working there i began school (at a full time status) worked 40+ hours each week to support my family. after three consecutive years of this things got a bit challenging,then father was murdered these things contributed to my going into a clinical depression. i don't receive food stamps or welfare(my choice) i make it work! i do plan on paying every penny of this money back however, completion of nursing school is a huge part of the plan. not working wasn't my choice rather my dr's recommendation. i am currently seeking employment and under my dr's advice will not overload myself this time. he thinks that i will make a great nurse. i make excellent grades. thanx for all of the positive feedback to those of you who had some. and llg the point was to get help, not dumped on. be very careful this could happen to anyone! if you knew me you would understand that i am the last person to try and get something for nothing. i am trying and i will turn things around with god's help! PS...not intended 4 sympathy but rather empathy!!!!!!!!!

well i haven't been back to work since i lost my previous job. the condition that caused me to lose my job was actually disableing. i have applied for disability and everyone knows hoe long that takes.so i figure i may as well do something productive that i've always wanted to complete. i actually did call all lenders in an attempt but it's hard to assist a person with no income. and as far as the student loans go, they have what they have a forgiveness plan where they will remove the default from your credit report after the on time payments have been made. the problem is i need money now and i can't even afford to pay for school so making payments to them would be impossible.

i spoke with them. unfortunately, they say that once they go into default that you must make 12 consecutive on time payments before that can reverse it.

financial officers at school offered no help nor suggestions. and as far as my credit goes it's already shot. I lost my job due to a prolonged illness. in the process my home and car were both repossesed. so student loans are the least of my troubles. i am really desperate right about now. a career in nursing is my fresh start, a way out of this terrible situation.i don't believe that i can get any private loans. i think that consolidation may be my only recourse. :(

hi fun2care,:) i have really enjoyed all of your informative and extremely helpful input on this tread. 2 answer your question, i am currently unemployed and tried to make payment arrangements based on an income contingency. my total income is only 1,000/mo and that's child support. and based on that the worksheet states that i didn't have enough income to even quailfy for the program. i just recently applied for a consolidation loan thru a company called student loan solutions. i am praying that they are able to help. however, my tuition is due by 01-04-2007. i need books and all the other things that are required. so if anyone out there knows of anywhere i can get assistance please let me know. thanx!!!!!!

I am currently in default with my federal student loans due to the fact that I'm unemployed and unable to bring them back into good standing. I just recently located a loan consolidation center that was willing to work with me. But I don't think that they will be completed before school starts in Jan. (if they even approve them). Can anyone give me any suggestions on where I can locate any other aid? :o

thanx soooo very much for all of this so very helpful information. this is a God sent. I am starting clinicals spr 07 and i can't wait!!!! I need to know where a student who has defaulted loans can get financial assistance. this is very hard trying to pay for out of pocket!!!!!!!!!!
