hi, I am also a new grad starting in hh. I do shift work, where I work 5 days a night...Not the most suitable job for me but thats all that is available in my area(NY) since hospitals are on a freez right now.. yeah, after you got the routine down pat, it is as boring as hell,,,lots of down time too, I got paid the same amount as working in a nursing home without having to care for 30 different patients. It is ok for now as I will be going back to school to complete my rn-bsn in the fall. It will work out, because I can always study on the job. I"m still looking for a hospital job in the mean time because I think med surg is the key and the basic step to a solid foundation in nursing. I am thankful for my job though, I get to learn about vents, trachs, g-tubes, and dressing change..I feel comfortable performing those skills now. my advice is to make sure you are properly oriented to your patient and ask for help with any thing your not familar with. I am praying for both of us all those new grads out there who are still searching for a job.

I suggest you hold on to your job darely untill you are 100% sure of getting another job. It is a difficult job market out there right now, I hope things turn around real soon. I have graduated in May 08 and pass my nclex Jan 09 Been looking for work since then,(NY) thank God I just found a new job doing home care, not the kind I was hoping for but I'm still thankful after knocking at so much different door, only to hear "You need atleast one experience". Hold on and keep your fingers cross..

I wouldn't want somebody with that type of attitude caring for anyone, You need to take her to the side and talk to her and if that doesn't work then go to your supervisor...plain and simple.

Hi everyone. I am currently 8mths pregnant and live in nassua county, NY. During my first prenatal visit the nurse told me that I have to take a mandatory hiv test at the begining and towards the end of the pregnancy. I guess it is a requirement now for some states I believe. Six years ago I remember that they usually ask if you would like to have a hiv test during your first prenatal blood work up.

I will say this it is the most popular and expensive company that assist students in preparing for the nclex. They dominate this field( emphasis on most expensive):heartbeat:clown:

Hi everyone, Is there anyone who took the nclex weather recently or in the past that had several questions that may have been posted in a popular nclex book that were on the actual nclex test. I recently had my exam on 19 nov in Ny, I had several analysis questions that came directly from a popular nclex book that was exactly word for word. I know those questions were analysis questions because I got them wrong while I was doing them from the nclex book and decided to take a look at the rational and the answers as why I got them wrong. I still belief that it was god way of helping me to pass because I almost couldn;t belief it. I have to ask is it possible?

Hi there, I am sorry to hear that you have failed the nclex twice but please don't give up just work a little harder and remain focus. I just recently pass the exam so I know it is not easy. I will make a few suggestion that may help but the rest is on you. You should use saunders 4th edition for reviewing, if you can afford it please use kaplan question bank or purchase the 2007-2008 book and focus on the strategies and the questions in the back of the book and the cd. The exam is just as difficult as kaplan question:nurse:.
