  1. Wow, you are contacting me at such an opportune time. I have just started and as of this year all students must first complete a research course before they can start their actual topic. Perhaps you could contact me at my private email and we could talk? I am having a little bit of trouble following the actual system and perhaps you might provide me with some insight? Thank you for contacting me.
  2. Wow! You are truly impressive and I applaud your decision. I realize that some practices are doing this and it is not acceptable. Does teh BON in your state know of this practice? If not they need to.
  3. I am trying to protect people from being called before the BON for saying they are something they are not. It has happened in FLorida, and not only with CMA's but other healthcare providers too. Be careful.
  4. Yes, it's illegal and needs to be reported to your state BON. It's called misrepresentation and there are specific rules and state law regarding misrepresentation.
  5. I am looking to start my PhD in nursing, the catch is that I need to do it online. I realize that there are a number of schools out there that are now offering a PhD, EdD, and a DNP. I need a school that does not require your GRE score as mine is past 5 years old. I have found Northcentral University (PhD in Education), University of Hawaii at Manoa (PhD in Nursing), and the University of Arizona. Any help would be truly appreciated. Thank you.
  6. Thank you for your thoughts. I have done some homework and the school follows the same teaching style as the British system- which is a fantastic way to learn. I like the idea of doing strictly research in my area of interest as opposed to the extra courses required by the US schools. Also, it appears to be affordable and I get to go to graduation in Pretoria. If that isn't cool, I don't know what is. :)
  7. Has anyone taken advantage of the research only doctoral program at the University of South Africa (UNISA)? When you review the information it appears that the school is old and well respected throughout the world. I would appreciate feedback, especially if you have studied at the school. Thank you.
  8. Good luck. I hope you work out your anger and figure out why you're angry and at whom.
  9. I agree with Mulan, you do not have the necessary knowledge or background to make an educated comment. The news media have never had a realistic take on anything, and I am unhappy about your fictional scenario. Please do not make inaccurate comparisons, unless you are a real RN please do not make up situations or comment.
  10. I am a Nursing school professor and I am basing my opinion on knowledge of students who have no basic nursing knowledge and continue in school. All nurses need to hone their skills once they complete the ADN program. They need to work in a Med-Surg setting to learn what actually happens in nursing AND take RN to BSN course(s). You will not fall out of student mode if you continue in that manner. A nurse coming from the BSN program needs to hone their skills also prior to advancing. Practice, practice, practice. Continue on iin school, but gain experience at the same time. It truly helps.
