  1. hang in there! try to keep positive and pray. it's just a number and it doesn't predict the outcome of the test.
  2. i think i'm quitting nursing.... for now. i think i just need a break from it. i'm such a disappointment. i just feel so bad to all the people that have invested in me... i'm so defeated right now.
  3. to all--thanks so much for all the words of wisdom... i really appreciate it. i mean, it's really making me hang in there and really look at things objectively at this point. so, thank you very very much...right now, i'm thinking of riding it out until my contract expires which is in a yr... as for icu nursing, so far i don't think it's for me, but i'm going to stick to it. i really like learning all the equipment, the drips, etc., but i really miss interacting with my patients. i miss assisting them to walk around the nurses' station, the teaching aspect of nursing i really miss... these things are rare opportunities in the icu setting because the patient population are mostly on bedrest and noncommunicative. with all that said, do u guys think i should stay in the icu for a yr and learn as much as i can or go ahead and ask for a transfer right now which will be another trial run situation??? hope u guys respond... ur opinions really matter.
  4. thanks so much guys... yeah, i guess i just hate the feeling of being uncomfortable... i do have a great support system, my nursing friends and i do always talk about our experiences but i feel that they have adjusted to the nursing culture much better than i am... i don't want to quit, but for now i don't really see myself retiring as a nurse... and i feel guilty because i know the patients deserve nurses who love their jobs.
  5. i'm a new nurse and dread going to work... everytime i'm walking from the parking lot to the unit feels like a death sentence. i don't know when this feeling is going to go away... everyone in the unit seems nice, but everything just seems so unfamiliar and my BSN is completely worthless at this point. i've actually worked as a tech before in a different unit that was bearable and would like to beg for that job again in a heartbeat. i know i should give it time... just don't be so hard on myself...but i feel so incompetent. and the more i'm exposed to this profession... the more i hate it... charting, passing out drugs, carrying out orders, demanding families, being a maid... oh how i just hope that it will get better. but the aforementioned job description is not what i intend on being for most of my work life...i am so lost and i don't know what to do. i feel like i wasted a lot of time, money and effort just to do something that i don't think i want to do. i feel such a failure.
  6. hopeful16, so sorry that happened. just keep at it though. i know that it is hard, but please don't let one test defeat you. sometimes things happen for a reason.... it's ok to grieve about this. u're absolutely entitled to it, but don't dwell on it too much... get up, cheer up, nothing will happen unless you make the choice to keep fighting. keep the faith.
  7. first off--- breathe.... close your eyes and just breathe in love and positive thoughts and breathe out all the negativity and all the stress.... do this x10. it sounds like u've prepared enough for this test so, just make sure ur nerves are in check. don't stress the anticipation, but focus on what you know and knock those questions out :hlk: g'luck!
  8. i don't know if u've read my posts... but i too got 265qs just 3 days ago. i was sooooooooo nervous no doubt but i think even psyched myself out when my computer kept going after the magical 75 number. i kept at it though even though my heart was beating like crazy. i swear could not even hear myself read the questions... i just kept hitting next and just want the torture to be over... i was the last person done and was numb when i left the testing center. so for the next 2 days i was pretty much delusional and was ready to check myself into a psych facility, jk! so all these torturous feelings are all normal after taking such a beating from nclex. so do what u gottsa do to get rid of them... vent vent vent :hlk: :hlk: :hlk: u r so entitled to! :tinkbll: best of luck!
  9. thanks a million to everyone for all the prayers and support!!! n to all the other nclex takers~ g'luck! n knock those questions down.... :hlk: :hlk: :hlk: :hlk: :hlk: :hlk:
  10. hmmm.... interesting because i was the last person out of the testing center and everybody else was gone. there maybe some truth to this myth..ahhh the NCLEX conspiracy... anyhoo... what ur feeling is completely normal. i was in ur shoes exactly 2 days ago.. the dreaded 265q! oh the torture! i can't tell u to calm down, relax, have fun... cus it aint gonna happen... so feel free to vent vent vent. u r completely welcome to. :)
  11. thank you. yes, i'll be praying for u and all the other nclex takers. miracles do happen!
  12. i passed with 265!!! :) thanks to everyone for their support!!!:heartbeat
  13. i graduated first week of may and went on vacation til the end of may... started my internship first week of june and took the boards june 27...n found out today i passed. :) i say it depends... we had to take an exit exam in order to get our bsn and it was similar to NCLEX... so my last semester of nursing school i was already preparing for NCLEX due to the fact that i have to pass my exit exams. i solely just stuck with the saunders book and there's a website http://www.nursing.goivytech.net it's a free website where u can do practice questions on and the answers and rationales are immediate and u don't have to go through 68898988 qs just to see them. u can tailor them to how many qs u want to do that day. i focused on each body system the diseases in each. i didn't study everyday because i have work or sometimes i am just not so focused that day. i say it's a waste of time studying if you are in the wrong mindset. Don't force urself to study cus sometimes it's counterproductive. Be relaxed when u study... have a little game with it. For instance, if u just finished reviewing a disease process... talk about it with a random person and educate them about it. It really helps to talk about this stuff so it's more natural to u and avoid memorizing as much as possible.... that's all for now... let me know if u need any other info... good luck to u!!! :)
